** GORGEOUS NEW LG 4K MONITOR - LG 27GN950-B PRE-ORDER NOW **

I don’t suppose any of you who paid £ 5 extra for Saturday delivery are going to chase DPD for a refund. Technically you did get Saturday delivery so you can’t really complain. I bet you’re just happy to have your monitors.

i kicked off this morning before i got my delivery time notification because they said they wont be able to bring it and got refunded anyway.... next thing you know boom its here lmao

Just had an email from DPD informing me that I have a parcel coming from Overclockers which will be detained by customs unless I pay the £ 31.74 5% GST to have it released.

So I've just logged onto the customs website and declared it and paid the £ 31.74 5% GST with my debit card. So hopefully this should mean the expected delivery date of 06/10/20 won't slip because it should pass straight through customs without any hold ups.

awesome news bro :)

I've just spent the last few hours throwing all types at games at this monitor.

I do hear the point about 32" being a sweet spot for 4k, but I didn't see anything on the horizon, with a decent panel type, that made me pause. I'm delighted I went for this. Really pleased with the fidelity, it feels like a big upgrade (from 1440p Korean monitor for me). The only thing is, I can't use the full features until my 3080 arrives. My current 1080 doesn't support DSC.

I’ll be using my Radeon RX 580 8GB until stock of nvidia 3080 are readily available. Which probably means I’ll have to run at 2560x1440 for the time being.

Evening all, been lurking ever since I found the post about the pre-order being available. Ran into some technical (?) issues so I thought I could potentially pick the brains here? At some point I'll get 3090 and maybe this question wont matter anymore.

But currently i'm on an MSI 1080ti and for the life of me I can't get the g-sync option to appear in game? Been trying witcher 3, fortnite, control etc. Any site seeing game tbh. Tried switching back and forth between 1.4 and 1.4(DSC) to no avail. Used nvidia control panel to turn on G-Sync for the monitor, switched hdmi cable... anything I could think of.

Now am I being thick here (most likely since I don't keep up with the tech except for when it comes time to upgrade) or does the GPU need to support DP1.4 (DSC) before it can start doing G-sync for this monitor?
Since we're all on the same monitor thought that this might be a good place to ask!

Gsync would be in nvidia control panel but since the last driver update it has disappeared but they are going to address it in the next update aparently...

Wile your using 1080ti I would just roll back your drivers by 2 revisions then it should work as the latest was just a fix for 3080 crashes me personally im just using ingame vsync until its sorted cuz I cba rolling them back

Hope this helps

It does indeed! Thank you for clarifying that. I don't think I'll bother with rolling the drivers back. I mean at max settings the 1080ti's not going over 60fps for most titles anyway so not much point. Just going to buckle down for the next month hoping my 3090 comes before cyberpunk

This is definitely a future proof monitor.
Frame rates at 4k and decent graphics settings aren't going to reach above 100fps very often, even with the latest gen hardware. On a review I saw of this monitor, Flight Sim 2020 at 4k, max settings, the FPS averaged 42fps on a system running a 3080 and top end CPU.

If you have one it's going to be a balancing act between the graphics detail settings and your preferred frame rate - much like console gaming where devs usually prioritise graphics quality over higher fps.

Yes it definitely is. I have been meaning to upgrade my 4k 60Hz monitor for something with a bit more 'oomph'. The new GPU release and this lined up quite nicely.

Though I'll be honest, so far I prefer the monitor's in built HDR effect more than the windows HDR mode. And the colour accuracy over my old monitor is like day and night. Extremely pleased with it. And if I didn't stumble across this thread I would have had no way to pre-order one! So big thanks to NikTheSHNIK! :)

All you guys who have received the monitor preorder, or was the monitor in stock when you ordered? Been ‘monitoring’ this item for a while now!

glad to hear lots of you are enjoying it.

Pre ordered mine on the 20th of last month and received it yesterday

Awesome bit of kit love it
I am just a bit tentative to buy myself as currently using a 32”. Plus other concern is that I have preordered ps5. Could ps5 possibly even run 4K 60fps in triple A titles? If not there would be no need for me to wait on HDMI 2.1. I do have an OLED but prefer to play on monitor.

mrs usually has the tv!

I was a pre-order too (Sept 14th).

As for PS5, I'm on the same boat. My understanding is that with HDMI 2.1 PS5'll do 4K/120Hz. I don't know if this moniter can have it's firmware updated to support that. I'm banking on (with a lot of hope) that there will be HDMI 2.1 to DP 1.4 adaptors or cables in the markets in the near future.

But overall for a console experience I'm not as fussed about hitting 120Hz. As long is it can hit a rock solid 60Hz then that is fine for me. They tend to be the sightseeing type games and this monitor has been delivering that in spades over the old one.

I preordered mine on the 10th September, they didn’t come into stock until 1st October so about a three week wait. Mines due for delivery tomorrow as I’m in Jersey so last one to receive one from the first batch.

Well back of the queue again - I've had to disentangle my 3080 order from the monitor as they would only delivery them as a pair and I'm probably getting that come easter with the delays - so had to knock the monitor off and reorder this morning. Maybe get mine in Nov stock shipment?

HDMI2.1 on the PS5 & XSX consoles is more future proofing. Apart from 2D side scrollers you will not find games within the first 3-5yrs of the gen capable of 4K60 or 8K. Having said that there is already a an adapter made by Club 3D but I'm yet to see any reviews.

Game Devs are having to put in performance modes that reduce resolution so they can boost frame-rates to 120fps. A monitor that can 4K60 & 1080p/1440p 120fps is the sweet spot in which the GN950 currently sits...for console gamers, obviously.

Mine turned up yesterday - great monitor. Its being driven by a GTX970 at the moment - so not exactly seeing it's full potential yet.

Question to other owners - does the bottom plastic bezel on yours look like it has a slightly wider gap than the rest of the bezel?
