GPU prices go boom

Anyone remember what 1050 prices were June-ish last year before the price hikes?

I'm trying to convince myself I got a good deal on a recently bought 1050 (as a stopgap card). I had been planing to buy a 1070 before the price rises last year.

Maybe we can get enough people together and put a bulk order in directly with AMD/Nvidia. It will probably be cheaper than going through retailers :D

It's reached the point where I actually considered dropping a grand on a special edition Titan. What the **** has this price boom done to my brain.

No. I work all week and my money jointly contributes to the home and kids. My partner keeps hers, I keep mine. We talk when there is improvements needed or anything needs bought and for holidays etc. What she does with her money is her choice and vice versa.

There's a weird thing going on where in general guys will paint a picture of their wags as being tough on them, they are under the thumb or the misses controls the money. Reality is different, and if it's not, they really like being controlled, helps them feel wanted and then will moan about it but not really seriously as they really do like it. It's all very odd.

Christ, are we twins?

second or first hand?
I'm deeply hoping for a 1080 at a sensible price come next gen.

Bought my second 980 for £200, sold it for £160 just before the the next gen release. Second hand market can be excellent, but miners seem to be hoovering up even second hand cards and driving the prices up now.

Red and Green need to start releasing specialist mining cards specifically for that purpose, and release the gaming range with gimped mining ability, if this is at all possible. However, the truth is mining makes them lots of dollar, keeps their prices and demand high and makes gamers less important. Red might, green won't.

I still don't understand who is buying cards at these prices. A 1070 for £650 is bonkers. If used for mining the payback will be over a year and that is assuming difficulty rises make payback even possible.

It's mad.

If the xbone X/PS4 pro adds k/b and mouse support pc gaming will be a tough sell

Not much about console appeals to me.

At 1200p my single 980 does great. I don't get the rush to console idea, a good rig lasts for years, and you can tweak settings as you hit the performance wall.

Would you switch?

I'd want full KB+mouse support, customizable controls with in-game text chat though. Oh yea and mod support on games. Only then it can be considered PC equivalent.

My current pc is gpu-less and cos of prices I've been considering going console, but I don't think I will. Mainly cos I don't wanna put to waste my 1440p144 freesync monitor and other peripherals I've already invested in. If i was on an older motherboard etc I would definitely get an xbox1x instead

The PS4 already supports mouse and keyboard.

Theres only a small handful of games that actually support kbm iirc

I think my gaming PC will be competitive with any console.
Not on value for money
