*** Grand Theft Auto IV - MODS & TWEAKS ***

Are there any mods for actual game play, like new missions etc, or are all the mods simply graphical?

I've completed this game a couple times and not sure if there's much appeal playing again simply for better graphics.

i used the AA enabler from the Ice enhancer but that caused major slowdown.

even setting up AA in the GTA to x16 doesn't change the detail of the game.

Have you got any full res screenshots for me to look at to compare?

The sharpening that is part of my ENB adds some AA itself with the SMAA injector installed also it looks good but there are still jaggies.

I tried the built in AA from the ENB but it looked horribly blurry compared to SMAA.

I still need to do testing but I did set the nvidia control panel to force 16x CSAA but I don't think that worked.

It still looks pretty bright on my monitor but I've looked at screenhshots on another few tablet/monitors and looking a bit darker. I think the problem is that I have everything full up but because it's an LED monitor my blacks are still pretty deep.

Skyfall the images look amazing really great job on the tweaking!!

Just curious to know when you install a modded car like the one from your screenie is it as simple as just copying all the handling.dat from the included read me and pasting it over the default handling for which ever car it is your replacing? If so i guess you have to do this for all the other files like carcols.dat etc?

One final thing, i have downloaded a few modded cars but a lot of them seem to want to replace the same one for example the comet, can i just rename the 2 files wft and wtd (might have got those 2 extensions wrong something like that tho lol) to that of a different car for example Turismo and replace that instead?

I rememeber reading that you should only replace cars which have the same amount of doors etc as otherwise you might have issues in certain missions carrying more than 2 people lol

Most of the models I have downloaded have not had handling details and those that have I have not modified... I guess it's just the certain cars I have downloaded. So I have not directly edited any carcol files.

It's more trial and error, firstly AFIAK they have to have the same number of doors, sometimes you can just rename them and pop them back in, others it doesn't seem to work and handling is FUBAR.

At the moment my TVR handling is messed up after I replaced the comet, the file it came with replaced the infernus (but i renamed). However it's a little strange as I previously had the TVR on the comet and it worked fine. I think I need to recopy from my backup as I think I have managed to replace some carcol or other rr files.

I have not really looked into further gameplay mods... Pretty sure there are no extra mission mods though, people mainly play through again or multiplayer these days.
 
okay just reinstalled this finally got through gfwl saying my account didnt exist and so on :p

from other thread trying to get a dl for this

CGE ENB 2.0 the one from the other thread doesnt let me download it

just fancied trying it with all the mods on :D
 
There are sooooooo many graphics mods for GTA4 now. And it gets so confusing as there is different versions of the game and the mods only seem to work with certain ones.

For example, most commonly theres GTA4 1.0.4.0 and 1.0.7.0 Steam version and retail GFWL version. Then theres Episodes from liberty city Steam and GFWL version. Until now I have used iCEnhancer and a different configuration of the ENB by someone called H1Vltg3. I find his/hers config of the ENB really life like, they get the lighting spot on.

See here for video where iCEnhancer 2.0N, H1Vltg3 settings, RealizmIV 6.2 and the retail GFWL 1.0.4.0 version of the game is used.

Watch it in 720p and its just wow...

ICEhancer is not the best until you have tried these and each version will be different on each pc so you need to try for yourself.

Check my version of L3VO ENB,it looks almost real.
