*** Grand Theft Auto IV - The Official Thread ***

I'm at 42.5% atm and have a bank robbery mission outstanding I think so I've been leaving that until tonight when I get to have a proper bash at it. I've been doing the Most Wanted/Vigilante missions so far utilising the computer on police cars, and it can be a lot of fun! :o

Ended up having a mad chase around almost the whole of the second island last night just trying to catch 3 goits on motorbikes!
 
Luck of the Irish was the first one I really struggled with, about 8 or 9 attempts until I figured out the correct sequence. Looks like Snow Storm up next for me though at the moment I'm finishing off the Brucie missions and the delivery/car theft procedurals. Then it looks like I need to track down some of the random characters.

Has anyone noticed the financial reward does not necessarily correspond to the difficulty level? Some (like Brucie's missions) are relatively easy and pay @ $4k, whereas others only give you $500 - $1k for much more work.

I've only tried vigilante once and got nowhere with it. Where's the tank when you need it?!

I'm thinking as well of the car deliveries - in SA (and VC I believe) - you got a cut of the full value, in IV you get a flat $1k for each delivery.
 
having played the game for 15 hours i've had only 1 noticable slow down and one *almost* lock up, froze for about 1 minute and then carried on working. (on 360) so not quite the horror story some people seem to suggest
 
I'm currently about 15% through... Everytime I sit down and play a mission I get an invite from a mate! lol.

I have noticed that every now and then I get like a short pause for about a second. Its not to bad as it does not happen much. Just wondered if anyone got it?

I haven't noticed any issues to be honest. Although I'm not really looking.

The main thing i find annoying how dark it can get in alleys etc, even on game brightness on highest and tv up to 90%

About 30 hours in I started getting that, happened about 5 times during the entire game (took me about 45 hours to complete) and was worrying the first couple of times. They all seemed to come a few hours of each other, then there was nothing again.

I tried that on four different hookers and none of them dropped my wad :( maybe they removed that from the game to shut Jack Thomson up?

i was in Algonquin, i believe! the apartment with the laptop, rather lush?

Anyhow outside parked up in my garage space was a Gold and Black "Hently" Sports, A Jet Black "Hently" Sports, and a Zombie

So i'm driving past the apartment, when i thought whys my lush gold hently sport moving, so i get out to run up to it, and it zooms off, i jump back in my car and chase it trying not to damage it to see an old woman, trying to get the hell out of there! with a passenger!

so i rag her passenger out, knife him to death at which point she makes a run for it! i let her go, and park back up my Hently sports (i got it off brucie, i haven't seen the color anywhere else) safe and sound, and slightly scratched :(

i haven't had any of my cars stolen in this version of GTA IV, Pensioners!

Well it's unlikely that Niko Bellic is going to be the only car theif in the city - wouldn't expect it from an old woman though, but there's nowt as queer as folk ;)
