*** Grand Theft Auto IV - The Official Thread ***

Please, decide on some rules and stick to them. That last sentence is as grey an area you could possibly create. It'll be all someone needs to say "My mate has the game..." "my mate said x happens..."

Part of the reason the last thread got closed was because people were linking to videos of pirated copies...yet now you're saying it's ok?

I've already commented above in regards to the confusion.
Links to videos that are official or legally released by Rockstar/Take-Two are allowed until the release of the game (which I mentioned at the top).

Blame my crappy sentence construction.

Is there some kind of law that will get this website done in if people talk about a pirated game then?

I don't get it loads of websites talk about pirated games but I've never heard of any of them get into ****, also don't get how linking to a video hosted on an external site is an issue.

I am genuinely interested.

There is copyright to think about, but I don't know the details.

Talking about pirated games might not be illegal but it's not something that should be encouraged. IMO

OcUK does not want to be linked to promoting any sort of illegal activity. By allowing links to things that are the product of illegal activity (and are extremely quickly being removed by the copyright owners), OcUK is effectively endorsing it.

It's that simple.

Just to make things clear, no gameplay videos unless they're official trailers/from magazines that have review/preview copies.

Anything else is presumed to be a pirated copy and therefore we will not allow it to be linked to here.

:edit: I think Nokkon just worded it wrongly up there.

So what about I if buy a genuine copy of the game early from a retailer ( I would never get a pirate copy of such a highly anticipated game tbh ) - Will I be able to post pics of said game in my hand? <----with bread of course ;)

No-one else is interested. And it's not relevant. Stop being picky.

My 2nd plan in game is to find you online and run you over.

I'm not being picky lol, I'm guessing it's because OCUK don't wanna be associated with piracy as I've never heard of a site getting in trouble for just discussing such things.

and I thought you was getting it on PS3? :p

I agree it's not ocuks responsibility of the content of another site. Also who's to say the footage is not from a perfectly legal copy of the game. Whatever happened to innoncent until proven pirated.

What would be the point? Just leave it a couple of days so we're not suspicious :p

:edit: If the release date is broken then that's a different matter and we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

:edit2: Joebob if you're 100% sure that you can convince us that it's a genuine copy and it's yours then go ahead, however don't be surprised if it disappears :p

That's always been a solid rule. Whilst it may appear unfair to those who do buy it legitimately, the past goes to show that pirates outnumber legitimate purchasers when it comes to early releases. Unfortunately it's a case of guilty til proven innocent.

I mentioned earlier a post with bread, preferably showing the games instruction manual will be fine.
