Graphics Card Warranties (UK Only) - Let's see how good they really are!

Just having a read as I'm going for a couple of 7970s.

So Gigabyte and MSI are the ones who offer excellent RMA services?

Avoid the rest?
Yep if you see my original post, anything in the top 6 has the best warranty service, so for AMD/ATI your best options are Gigabyte and MSI.

Took Gigabyte almost a month to sort out my GTX480SOC RMA.

Did end up with a GTX580, but an entire month IMO is too long
Was you one of the people who bought a £200 GTX480SOC? and ended up with a £400+ card? I suppose they could have just brushed you under the carpet with 2 x GTX 460 straight away.

This was down to End of line product so no replacement in stock, this happend to someone else also as I read it on these forums, replacements came from Gigabyte Taiwan Head Quarters as far as I'm aware.

How can they send 2 gtx 460 cards when they are not even sure the customer can run SLI. Very wrong in my opinion... GTX 580 is very nice replacement, considering they could've sent a GTX 570 as that is more on the same level...
True, what I was just trying to put across is that waiting one month and receiving a card that could be sold making £200 profit over the price paid for the GTX 480SOC in the process makes up for the one month wait.

I bet other manufacturers would have replaced it with something with less value.

4 weeks and counting for my HiS RMA :(
Did you do RMA direct with HIS or retailer? over 28 days you should go back to retailer as thats classed as maximum amount of time for RMA to be processed.

The retailer should give you an equivelent replacement or a credit note to go towards something else.

HIS graphics card (6970) returned under RMA to Ocuk aged 11 month old. They have informed me its tested faulty and that also I will have to wait upto 28 days from taking it into store. Its being returned to taiwan (i think it was).

Currently on day 16 now, that is as long as it was not 28 working days. Do not think I would buy HIS again just on this experience.
Keep me updated on here, looks like I'll have to ammend the list for HIS, as it seems OcUK ship them RMA to China/Taiwan if the graphics card fails after 28 days of purchase.

Tonight I emailed someone, who I know had to RMA a KFA2 card, this is what was said. The initial RMA took only 5 working days to receive a replacement.
KFA2 RMA Experience said:
When my GTX 480 Anarchy edition ‘died’ I immediately logged the fault through their online RMA portal, I received an email back the following day asking me to confirm a few details about the fault and literally minutes after I replied to the email my RMA had was approved, so I packaged the card up and sent it to KFA2’s offices in Wales via next day recorded delivery.

It was roughly a week after sending my faulty card away that the replacement arrived at my door (i have attached a screenshot of my closed RMA from the KFA2 support website)

As you can see it was exactly 10 days (including a weekend) from when I logged the faulty card to a replacement arriving at my doorstep.

Unfortunately the replacement GTX 480 Anarchy card was faulty out of the box, it wasn’t stable at it’s factory overclock at any voltage settings, I called KFA2 support directly and they arranged a next day “swap out” replacement where the courier dropped off another replacement and uplifted the faulty replacement at no cost to me.

I actually ended up getting a GTX 580 Anarchy edition, so a free upgrade for me! Happy days!

Will be updating the list very soon.

Shouldn't you add that with MSI OcUK will deal with the full 3 year warranty?

In fact won't OcUK deal with the warranty for any of these manufacturers?
I've just done some digging, looks like Sapphire, Asus can be dealt with for the full duration of the warranty via OcUK, same with MSI, other than that the info somewhat cloudy.

I doubt it will make the RMA more efficient as after 28 days they will only ship the defect cards over to the manufacturer anyway.

Will update the list after I've had my tea.

Just a suggestion or two, you may want to state that OcUK will only send a replacement from stock after 28 working days (for cards over 28 days old)

Also, According to SOGA 1979, all fixes/replacements should be done within a reasonable amount of time, so in theory, all retailers should take a max of 28 days :)
Good idea, I've got enough room now to bang them on, will update in abit.

I suppose I could post it and then advise him to keep an eye it if that's the done thing ? Is it ? Or how does one broach the subject with Mr UB .
Make a post in the OcUK Customer Service section, explain everything as you have here, 5UB will most likely see it, take it from there - good luck, hope you get it sorted.

Nelly - Under SOGA can't the manufacturers technically take as long as they like as your contract is with the seller and you didn't buy from the manufacturer?
I just contacted Trading Standards about this a few year ago, they told me that items such as motherboards, graphics cards etc, should take no longer than 28 days from receiving the item.

Contract is with the seller, regardless of what the retailer will tell you, even if they say they only cover the first year of warranty etc.

Saying all this, if it's an item from say Gigabyte - I would go direct with them, because we know how quick they are with the RMA i.e. a few days, maybe a week if your unlucky, so even if you know a retailer is crap, but the Gigabyte item is cheaper, it won't really matter.

Just had an email from OcUK that they have sent my 7950 back to HIS for repair or replacement. Anyone got any ideas how long this can take?
Anywhere upto 6 weeks it seems, as the cards go back to Hong Kong/China. But it's only supposed to take 28 days, as mentioned by trading standards. If it gets to 28 days, contact OcUK.

This is why I will not buy an HIS card, or any other manufacturer card that takes this long, sure the chances of needing to RMA a card within it's 2-3 years are low, but I would rather go with a company that will return your card within 14 days.

See the first post on this thread for RMA details of all manufacturers >> http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18231329

Let us know how long your cards take to be repaired/replaced on here, would appreciate the information, as I basically rely on feedback from multiple forums to form some sort of similarity.

You would be much better off with a manufacturer that has a faster RMA process such as Gigabyte.

EDIT: the card you are looking at is only sold with 90 days warranty. The two years does not count even with HIS.
I'm not 100% sure, but on B Grade Gigabyte items, you may get warranty after the 90 days from Gigabyte, because they take warranty from the date of manufacture via the serial number, all you need is a receipt.

Just to confirm, ordering from ocuk for a msi graphics card would mean should anything occur I would send it to ocuk and they'd send it to msi?
If it's 28 days or under from date of delivery, a retailer will replace from stock. Over 28 days, then the card goes back to the manufacturer.
