Graphics Card Warranties (UK Only) - Let's see how good they really are!

Never had an issue getting a PowerColor card replaced a while back (Radeon 5850). It was sent to their office in the Netherlands (TUL Corporation which deal with Powercolor, VTX and Club3D). They covered the shipping costs and sent me a brand new & sealed replacement... Which i then sold on ebay as i had already bought another card :D.

I've read through first page of this thread,is there anything about transfer warranty and how it works on this 23page topic.I'm looking to buy second hand hd 7970 but I'm aware some companies won't transfer (for example EVGA)
How does it work with Gigabyte,Msi,Asus,Sapphire,ATI,HIS???
thanks

I thought EVGA did transfer, but if you have a 5 or 10 year warranty it just defaults back to the 3 year warranty for second user?

EVGA changed their warranty lengths and terms last year sometime. They now have Guest RMAs now which are done through the serial number and don't require proof of purchase. Although I've had a few issues with the serial number not showing the correct length of warranty, so worth checking that before buying here: http://eu.evga.com/support/guestregister.asp

Most others don't "transfer" as they are solely through the retailer and therefore you must be the original customer. People on the MM are usually very good and often help out with any claims.

Im sending back my brothers MSI 6970 Twin Frozr card soon, I bought it for his birthday back in 2012, but he could never get it working. I went up to visit last week and sure enough, black screen when connected, no BIOS beeps, but fans on the card spin up. He has a 1000w PSU so power isnt an issue. His old crossfired 4870s still work fine. I brought the card back with me to see if I could get it working in my machine, but my case isnt big enough...

Im hoping OcUK find the same fault, it does sound like a DOA.

I've got a wobbly fan on one of my Gigabyte 7970 windforce cards.

I've raised an RMA request with gigabyte (two days ago) but I've received no reply yet.

Is there any way of seeing the status of the RMA? I searched and found nothing.

Also i'm concerned that they will send me back a voltage locked card as a replacement.

Thanks.

Edit, found it.

You could ask them to send you out a replacement fan or shroud. You could trawl the auction site to see if anyone is selling a spares or faulty WF card. You could also put something in the wanted section of ocuk.

GB-Tech are usually pretty good.

Maybe post the link so any others looking can find it here? :)

Like Speed said, Gigabyte have been quite good in the past for me

Anyway, my 7970WF developed a 'wobble' just gave it i pull out/pushed in, centre and it went back to normal (maybe you've already tried this)

I've received a reply from Gigabyte and it's not what I was expecting.

Dear MR *****

Thank you for your kindly mail and inquiry. About the issue you mentioned, it is possible something wrong with your hardware. The system needs further examination to determine the problem. Because our warranty service is provided by the original supplier and the distributor in that area, if you want to RMA/repair/replace your product, please kindly contact with your original supplier for furthering help. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Regards,
GIGABYTE

The card is just over two years old and still in warranty.

Edit,

I've just tried to raise an RMA with the supplier and it says my cards are out of warranty (1 year remaining of 3). So I can't return it to them.

Who are you dealing with? [email protected] is the address I use. You have to pay a £15 handling charge for return postage but the turn around is quick.

It is possible to avoid the £15 charge by telling them you'll arrange for it to be collected via courier, which is what I did, cost me £4.20 each way via Hermes.

I've sent my card off to Gigabyte this morning using Hermes.

But....How do I get the card back from Gigabyte? as Hermes don't allow a pick up without a label.

Does anyone recommend a courier that picks up without a label?

I just e-mailed them the label. I asked them to inform me when its ready for collection, once they did I ordered the courier, replied to the e-mail with the pdf label.

I think they wanted a day of notice before the collection, so I arranged it for the day after the next working day to be safe.

5 weeks so far with my Asus Titan being out for RMA and no info from the retailer except that it is at the supplier. Getting fed up now :(

I've sent my card off to Gigabyte this morning

It took less than 3 days for gigabyte to fix my windforce 7970 :D

It took an age for Hermes to get it delivered and returned.

Received it back yesterday with a new shroud and fan assembly, and a load a accessories with it too (power cables, HDMI adaptor and a crossfire bridge) which i didn't request :D

Never again will I buy another brand.

Bloody brilliant service from Gigabyte and a breath of fresh air.

Well done Gigabyte.
