Grease!

I'm decorating the kitchen in my flat with the help of mr-white and above the work tops is a layer of grease which has built up for a number of years.. Flash kitchen just isn't cutting through the stuff. Can anyone recommend something stronger which will cut through the grease.

Get some daves insanity hot sauce, says it can be used as an industrial grease cleaner.

It is a good cleaner. Good for stubborn stuff like glue/grease.

Or white spirit.

There's an oven cleaner my wife uses in an orange box with clear bags for the racks and a spray for the inside, its amazing

try the juice from a lemon/orange obviously not the stuff that comes in cartons

It is a good cleaner. Good for stubborn stuff like glue/grease.

Don't see the point in using something that leaves a residue that will then have to be cleaned off afterwards.

Not only that but it will seep into the surface/crevices and the wd40 smell will remain.


Lets put it this way, you don't use something like that that you will be painting over, it's, just, silly.

Oven pride. i used that for the inside of my oven but i used it on the grill from my extractor and it melted the mesh!

What material are you using to rub it down with?

If we are talking grease on a painted wall, you are probably better off just attacking it with some coarse sand paper.

Very hot water and bleach, simple but effective.

its on top of wooden cupboards and the metal from the extractor fan

Wet and dry sandpaper for the top of the cupboards then, (use it wet) and use an old towel to keep taking the excess off. (tear towel into bits so you can keep using clean bits instead of wiping grease around rather than off)

As for the metal start with a plastic scraper, then finish off with whatever you have been using or like the above poster says, scolding hot water and bleach is the simple effective and cheap final method.

Sulfuric acid. Buckets full of it. That will work for sure.

Sugar Soap, might take a couple of goes if the grease is really mega thick & caked on, but ide be surprised if it did tbh.

Oh, & you want the powdered variety, not the pre mixed solution.
