I'd recommend a single 4870 as there's less to go wrong

1 x 4870, just in case you play games that do not offer cf support.

Personally i'd rather have 2 x 4850's, their performance isn't a million miles from the 4870 and when CF does kick in it'll be considerably faster than a single 4870.

The fan is always going full throttle depending on what you plug it into.

A Zalman Fan Mate 2 or T-Balancer instantly sorts the noise out. Quiet at full speed anyway.

The the machine we tested one in the fan on the vortexx was quieter than the other 120mm fans in the system which I would consider as quiet.

I guess it all depends on how sensitive your ears are but I can't see how you will hear it at all with your case side on.

Nope. It was ATI that done something . Released a cheap monster that is within the performances of the GTX 280 for nearly half the price. £170inc Vs £305inc hmmmm.

Fantastic deal, gutted I paid 22 more last week for my 4870. Jst played Crysis today at 1680 * 1050 with all seetings on high. Highly recommended.

I might get one of those coolers though ;o)

Theres a typo on that Vortexx NEO description, it says 'Easy tool-free installation', well its not, as how your going to get your stock cooler off, telepathy the screws out.
