Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [10th - 13th Sept 2021]

Villa had more than enough chances in this half to be winning this game, the Lukaku goal aside I can’t recall Chelsea having a clear chance

No one says this... we simply say that we rely on it far too much. Which we do.

We should be on 12pts right now. We haven't played anyone remotely good and this scoreline flatters us.

Over the course of the season we will fall away from the top because we are not a quality team. We are a team full of quality players. That doesn't win you trophies like the PL and CL.

Keep thinking that we are a well coached and set up team though and wonder why we never win anything. Ole is just a better version of Southgate. Both out of their depth at the top level.

Spot on, agree with everything you’ve said. Worth while bookmarking this post as it’ll know doubt be spot on come April/May

You’ve got a fairly stacked team with the years of spending and added Ronaldo lol, you’ll be there or there abouts regardless unless someone puts up 90+

Cup games can are a bit of luck and again, you’ve added ronaldo

quit your whingeing and enjoy being relatively decent again. Complain about Giggs being invited to your directors box if something, that’s vile from the club

(not saying Ole’s good/great but it’s hardly a miserable experience)

I also agree with fez's general point, however I do think there comes a time where you've got to just see how it goes and enjoy things. Certainly no better time to be enjoying things than now.

He’s absolutely got a point but I didn’t wanna jump in ya know with me being a Liverpool fan lol.

Maybe this way suits United? Very early in the season to say.

It might surprise you to find out that it really doesn't bother me if we win or lose. I just want to watch us play well and get better as a team. I don't take the view that winning a game no matter what is the most important thing. From a pure enjoyment point of view I get far more from watching City or Liverpool play because they actually have something about them and you can enjoy how they have been setup, how they play and how they move the ball.

If you're the kind of fan who only cares about the score at the end of the game I see no point in even watching because its only the score that counts right?

I enjoy parts of our matches usually but I am just frustrated most of the time because we are so hapless and have such a good set of players. If we had a crap squad I could accept it but we don't and I expect more as a result.

But it doesn't matter a jot whether we do play well - you only ever have negatives to say about United anyway. About the best I've ever seen from you is a reluctant conceding that they weren't terrible.

If your starting position is that we can't possibly play well, because you know that our coaching is too bad to allow it - guess what? Your confirmation bias means that whatever you see can be discounted as some sort of anomaly. There's always a reason why it doesn't count. God, but it seems a joyless way to watch the team you support.

What do we think. Will Ronaldo coming to Man United be a real game changer and give them a realistic shot at the title?

He looked very good today, and i feel like not only will he contribute as a great player, but i think he is going to bring a sort of successful "aura" and increase confidence in the team a lot.

We stuffed a rubbish side that parked the bus.

Last season we would have struggled to break them down and limped to a draw...if we have fixed that problem, there's every chance of a title. Good progress.

You beat them 7-2 on aggregate last season, it's the historical big 6 you struggled with. I believe only spurs had a worse record against the traditional big 6 (Man U/City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Pool).

Amen. We drew far too many games which arguably cost us our chance of challenging city. We did the double on them so can go toe to toe but it was the silly games like drawing with WBA and losing to Sheffield United that cost.

On the flip side sometimes you need a bit of individual magic to break a team down. I mean how many times have pundits said that City were far too predictable to defend against because they are drilled to follow a set of rules. I think that in itself can be Guardiola's weakness but when he was at Barcelona he had Messi who had that individual magic to break the system and make them unplayable. The last Champions League final was a prime example of him overthinking of what needed to be done.

oh come on the way he anticipated the keeper dropping it was pure class?

just wow :cry::cry:

Alan Shearer just said the same thing as I did on Motd ;).
