Jeeez he's lucky to be in the squad. He's stunk the place out for months - why would you reward that with captaincy? He should be dropped. Ronaldo is the only one capable of captaining this mess and I can'r see why he would want to.

Before Ronaldo came Fernandez was the real captain anyway. He has been knocked back since Ronaldo's arrival though. To be fair anyone would in his presence.

You either give it to Ronaldo or get rid of him. You cannot have a captain over Ronaldo. There is no one in that dressing room that is of calibre to captain Ronaldo. .
Ronaldo is more than likely undermining Maguire anyway and everyone else just follows.
You have to hand it to Arsenal. Stripped Auba of captaincy and ripped up both his and Ozil's contracts. Wish we would do something similar.

I do not want him captain no but you either give it to him or get rid of him. You cannot do one or the other and keep your job as manager of MUFC because it will only get worse results wise.
Likewise you cannot keep Maguire as Captain end of.

In my mind, the basic requirements for a captain must be:
1. When fit, will they be in my starting 11 for the majority of the season?
2. Do they command the respect of the other players and staff?
The only player in the United squad that has any chance of ticking those 2 boxes is DDG, surely?
That's before you even start thinking about any actual leadership qualities!

Maguire shouldnt be in the team he lost his marbles folds under pressure. We need to bring decent centre mids in asap or we are getting same old crap.

Funny thing is people going on about Maguire, he was absolutely fine today. In fact he stopped a goal when Eriksen gave it away just before their second.
He's passable as a player. As a leader, someone to turn to when 4-0 down, he's not exactly inspiring.

But that was a good action, if he hadn't done that we'd have been probably conceding. That was the exact kind of challenge we haven't been making over the last few seasons, taking the yellow to stop the chance.
