Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [12th - 15th August 2022]

I wouldn't write the season off after two games, especially as I think the gap between Man City and Liverpool to the rest of the league isn't as big this season. I genuinely think Chelsea will be a tougher opponent this year.

The United vs Liverpool game will be interesting. I think ETH will have learned quickly that he can't implement his style of football with a squad unable to execute, I can see a extremely negative/defensive setup to try and ensure there isn't a cricket score.
Man Utd players can’t do that either though. There’s a lot of really bad players in that squad. Reports today are the squad has lost faith in Maguire.

Took them long enough.

Klopp's confirmed that Gomez (and Henderson) picked up a niggle midweek and that's why he didn't start today. He also mentioned that Matip's likely to be out for two weeks. I might cry if I have to watch us line-up with Williams and Phillips at CB again this season :o
Williams got loaned out to a Championship club. Can't remember which one. Gomez came on so will be OK.

It's like last season didn't happen how quickly the towel is getting thrown in here. Zero fight. Are you all on your period?
Its very "twitter like" in here when we drop points - my 14 year old son is the same, I told him to stop being such a bedwetter, leagues aren't decided after 2 games.

Tuchel charged in addition for media comments after the match when he said the ref should not use a whistle. Strangely Conte charged with exactly the same rules to do with media comments, but I couldn’t find anything he said apart joking on instagram about tripping Tuchel when he went sprinting past to celebrate the goal.

So this would be a 1 match touchline ban in addition to this charge I guess? I would have thought the on field would be bringing the sport in to disrepute so a separate charge to the above.

Just rewatched the London Derby. Mike Dean and Anthony Taylor should be removed from anything to do with refereeing premier League games. Chelsea were done over there big time, what an absolute joke.

This high threshold VAR rule is ridiculous as well.

Nah mate, the Lulzypool era is back. Klopp walks before the end of next season and the 30 years of hurt returns started by eyeeeeeaaa course in charge for a couple of years.

I've no idea what constitutes a foul after these 1st 2 rounds of games, being pulled to the ground by your hair, no foul / minimal knee on knee contact, foul and penalty / being thrown around the 18 yard box by a defender with both hands around the attacker preventing him from controlling the ball, no foul / both hands around the attacker preventing him from controlling the ball outside the penalty area, foul.

Its going to be another **** show of a season with referees and VAR taking center stage as this 'high threshold' stuff is utterly subjective.

Nunes was an idiot but Anderson fouled him a number of times and it went completely unpunished including a push in the box. He'll learn from it but refs need to be better.

Still need a midfielder.

If liverpool draw or lose to utd the league title is over i aint joking

The league is already gone. Liverpool have dropped 4 points they should be comfortable beating. They still need to play top 6 teams. City will blow Fulham and Palace away with ease.

It is over to Arsenal or Chelsea to give a fight this season because Spurs are still not good enough.
