Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [12th - 15th March 2021]

I was just about to say that we're going to struggle getting any opportunities in the air, even with set pieces as Maguire has proven to be useless in that regard too. Then a ball goes in to Rashford who makes a right mess of it.

I wasn't massively excited when we were top. We were there because other teams were underperforming massively. City have come back into form and now we are at best 11 points behind them. Ole hasn't convinced me at any point in his tenure. At best he has done well at times and at worst he has barely got the minimum expected of any manager considering the players we have.

He still isn't a manager that would have any top 10 club in the league snapping him up if he was a free agent. He still isn't going to take us to anything apart from the occasional cup and even then I would be surprised.

I am not sure what you want? We are in and around the best of the rest. Liverpool over achieved because of a fantastic manager. City are just on a different level and will alway be with the money they have. 3 leagues in 4 years. 5 wins in the past ten.

Yes we have spent but still not at Cities level and most of our big signings have gone on to pastures new.

It is no surprise we have nosedived since Pogba has been injured especially against teams that park the bus. It is easy to man mark Fernandes out of the game but when both him and Pogba play it is a different kettle of fish.

Effort and commitment would be a start. A plan b would be another. Our passing is dire at times. What are the coaches doing at training

It is not that. We are so lethal on the counter teams just pack the back line because we can't break them down which has been the case for a long time but we lack that CDM to play a more attacking game.

It is of no surprise that we have faired well against City and Leeds because they want to play football. It is also of no surprise the amount of draws we have had because teams quite rightly so play the way that gives them the most chance of points.

I want a better manager. It doesn't matter if City are on another level, you play them twice a season. Their quality is a bit of an irrelevance to how we are progressing and playing and I don't think we are playing well and I don't think we are progressing.

There is a reason the best teams in the world have the best managers. If they weren't vital then the top ones wouldn't be so in demand or consistently do well wherever they go.

I think if we still have Ole as our manager in 2 years time we will be in a similar position to now where we are largely reliant on the other top teams in the league to be having awful seasons to make us look OK.

Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal & Chelsea are all having really poor seasons which is making our own shortfalls far less obvious.

I don't see progress under Ole other than by signing better players. Thats not being a good manager.

This is my feelings and view as well if we get top 4 he will be here for atleast another season

Kane. Again. When is he going to get punished? That's a red card.

I was amazed he didn't get punished at the time. I'm not sure if it looks much worse in slow motion but it was late and looked intentional. We know he gets away with a lot though don't we. Always gets the foul/penalty when he just stops and throws a leg out to force contact and then gets away with ducking and backing under players.

And who's responsible for the way we play. The manager. What is our plan b? When we play at a faster tempo we are a much better side but no we take 3 or 4 touches carry the ball 10 yards giving the opposition time to set up then pass 5 yards or sidewards that's if our pass even makes it

Agreed.

Ask that to pretty much any other team other than City. The low block and pack your 18 yard box is just so common in the league now it is just boring to watch now. Everyone struggles with this not just us.

City manage to do it because they have an unrivalled squad depth so it is difficult for teams to anticipate how they are going to set up.
