Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [22nd - 23rd May 2021]

The squad is too big and needs to be leaned out, so they’ll be another clear-out after initial one in January to raise some funds. Then there’s hopefully some Walmart dollars being injected. The club have paid off that £120m loan they got from the BoE last year already so they can’t be that hard up.

Just seen comments from Klopp that Williams had been carrying an injury the past few days. It's quite fitting for us to finish the season with our 101st & 102nd CB's, one carrying a hamstring injury and both cutting their heads open during the game.
They'll need a cash injection from the ownership so prop up the sinking ship, otherwise I think you're right in regards to falling behind. But with their current squad, they'd barely get out of the groups IMO and risk further injury to an already weak squad.
They've been in the same boat for the past 3-4 years and tbf, they've spent a bit. The problem is they've just spent it poorly. They've bought a fair few rubbish playes and given out some big, expensive contracts. The financial damage of 18 months of behind closed doors football + those expensive mistakes, is going to hurt them. They've just had to borrow £120m to repay the Bank of England for the loan they took last year.

Will the Kroenke's be brave enough to spend again in the hope of improving or will they just sit back and wait (hope?) for West Ham and Leicester to fall away, and accept being 5th or 6th.

Kroenke’s paying that loan back out of his own pocket, but it still remains to be seen what our transfer pot is.

We still have a fair bit of deadwood to get off the books.

Get Micah Richards off the mic ffs. Embarrassing himself.
He might as well turn up wearing a City shirt and carrying pom poms.

Don't mind a bit of bias from the commentators and pundits but he's outright refused to criticise them this season.

Keeps appearing on every channel as well which winds me up, he's worse than COVID

Very proud of Liverpool getting 3rd. Should not have had to be so hard with some of the games they lost or drew this season. Can't wait to get van dyke back.

dyke - a long wall or embankment built to prevent flooding from the sea.
Virgil van Dijk - a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Premier League club Liverpool and captains the Netherlands national team.

:p:cry:

Not according to the reports I've read. The Athletic reported that Arsenal have borrowed the money to repay it.

They borrowed the money to repay the BoE loan using the Covid loan scheme. Stan is paying the Covid loan back out of his own pocket.
The BoE loan was the covid loan scheme. The Athletic article states:
The Athletic understands Arsenal have taken out a loan from a bank to repay the Bank of England loan.

You seem to be confusing this with what happened last summer. With the cost of borrowing being cheaper than ever, Kroenke refinanced some of the outstanding debt the club had from the stadium. Kroenke borrowed te money, at a cheaper rate than the club were paying, paid off some of the old debt and the club are no paying him back at the cheaper rate.

Yes I got a bit confused, the Covid loan is the BoE loan, but KSE is paying it back separate from the clubs finances.

And yet, I'm pretty sure that VVD could defend against the sea if necessary
