Lukaku has his weaknesses but is ultimately good at his main job of putting the ball in the back of the net. My issues with Lukaku extend beyond his below average first touch.
AWB is just braindead and awful most of the time though.
AWB reminds me so much of Nathaniel Clyne when he was with us. He was ok at rb and you didnt really think it was an issue until he was replaced and the difference is staggering.
Everyone says united need midfielders and well i think they do but a new rb should be a priority imo. They need a full back that doesnt get a nose bleed when going into the final third.

I never remember Clyne being that bad. He was linked with some other big clubs at various points.
When we were playing at our best under Ole, AWB was decent enough. We didn't depend on him for width, crosses or much beyond making last ditch tackles and winning 1 on 1s. In a counter attacking team that plays mainly down the left he can hide. In any other team that expects to play a modern style of football and be on the front foot against most teams hes god awful. Palace was definitely his level.

Those games against City he was pretty much unbeatable that Pep ended up putting Sterling on the right.

That kind of supports my point, hes only ever looked good enough when being asked to play massively defensively as part of a team that is playing entirely on the counter attack and his main job is to negate the thread of a single player.
Positional awareness? Awful
First touch and passing? Awful
Work rate? Awful
Crossing? Awful
Dribbling? Awful
Communication? Awful
Eye for the ball? Awful
In order for him to be good enough for a team with any ambition he would need to improve on so many areas of his games its unreal.
In other news, Lukaku is already doing what he does best and basically being an absolute *****. Talking about how he was happier at Inter and hes not happy with his game time at Chelsea.
There is a reason almost no United fans have any love for him.
He's 24 he isn't suddenly going to develop the necessary traits to morph into an attacking full back when he doesn't possess any of the qualities that one needs. He's like Maguire in that he's a mid table premiership player nowhere near the elite level that top teams require.
I saw that this morning whilst having my morning coffee, laughed (a lot) and carried on scrolling. The guy is a joke.

He had two goals and 6 assists in all comps last season which is good stats for a defensive full back who has a touch of Stevie Wonder according to this forum.
Aaron Cresswell got 8 assists in the premiership alone, maybe you should get him?

Saka, Antonio Rudiger, Rice 100% shouldn't be there. There are arguments for Ederson and Foden not to be in there as well but thats nitpicking as they both had cracking season. I just think there are better.
No De Bruyne, Salah, Robertson, Fernandino.
One of my main issues is that he seems to have picked Silva as a wing back.

Isn't this "team of the last calendar year" rather than team of the season? Thats how I read it. If the criteria is players that have had good a good year or a good 2021/22 season so far then there are loads of players that could be in there but it should be the best. Do you think Saka has been better than Salah? Thats pretty much what this is. Make your dream team based on form from the past year.
