Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [4th - 6th March 2023]

Are you not missing my point though, my statement was that I reckon Haaland will end up scoring more career goals than Ronaldo, currently he has scored 3 times more goals than Ronaldo did at the same age. The quality of the opposition is irrelevant really, it doesnt alter the statement of the number of goals scored. My personal belief is that Haaland will move to Real Madrid within the next 2 to 3 years, do that and he could easily score as many at Madrid as Ronaldo did, which combined with already having scored 3 times more than Ronaldo up to this point would give him a good chance of ending up scoring more career goals than Ronaldo.
While it’s possible it’s a very tall order. How many strikers showed unbelievable scoring stats only to inevitably end drying up after injuries ect.

Only time will tell.

True, injuries could be the stopper. Ronaldo has always been physically strong but Haaland I'm not so sure has that same physical sturdiness. Having said all that, I imagine that at least one of you and I wont still be on these forums in 15 years time, or the forums wont exist by then, for either of us to look back and say see, I was right :D

The comparison about how many goals they have scored at 22 is kind of pointless. Ronaldo was literally playing as a winger during that period so you would expect an out an out striker to out score him. If you compare the stats when Ronaldo was an out and out striker Ronaldo would be out scoring him.

Haalands agent has taken up the mantle of the old boss Mino Raiola. All she's done is talk about Madrid at every opportunity. I don't think it's anything more than to keep the backhanders and wage increases coming. It's not like City are going to hand him over for free.

I dream of the day we have a wage cap and players are no longer transferred for billions but based off wage cap. All these agents can then go and work in Aldi.

Yes but when the final total is added up what position the player once played is irrelevant.

Plus the winger/wide forward argument is a bit pointless too as if you're in the right system those players can score hat fulls too, Salah did it, nearly broke the record. Rashford now to some extent, doubt he'd be scoring more if he was playing as a CF now.

Ok so he’s got 639 goals to go and Ronaldo is still scoring by the way.

Ronaldo started at United as an actual winger in a 442 system back when 451 was unusual.

Lol.

Piece of advice. Don't try to get into into a **** waiving contest you'll only win by using your own tape-measure.

Yup , the position is irrelevant to the concept of the statement, just like the opposition is irrelevant and the other players in their team alongside them is irrelevant. The only statistic I am talking about is the number of goals scored. Lots is made of Pele's goals scored for example but he did his entire club career in the Brazilian league. All that I am talking about is the number of career goals, thats it, thats the only stat or factor I am referring to. Bottom line, number of goals scored in their career - which is indeed all I said. I didnt comment on their teammates, their team, their league or whether scoring more than someone else means they are better (it doesnt) - just the total scored goals in their career

Well they discontinued production of previous tape measures. Relegated to the history book and predates my existence.

That's what they old you when they sold your very own official Man Utd™ tape measure.

I can assure you, you're the only set of fans that uses them. Funnily enough, they're very popular when it comes to **** waving contests with Liverpool fans, who are perfectly happy to use the normal, everyday ones that everyone else uses.

I’m just stating facts. Since the Premier League was formed in 1992/93 Liverpool have only won it once, just like Blackburn and Leicester City. You have made a resurgence in recent years and probably have the best team since the glory days of the 70’s/80’s, but despite that you’ve been throughly second best to another Manchester team and despite having a stellar yet ultimately unsuccessful season last year, you fallen of a cliff in terms of points picked up. Despite this a 7-0 win over United will happily tide you over for another trophy less season.

No matter how you try to dress it up, we've won more than you.

And on Sunday, we beat you 7-0. Let that be a lesson.

It’s must be how other nations view the English when we still bring up 66 :(.

37 points ahead last season and 7 points behind this season. I think the lesson has been learned.
