For all the ***** I talk about Liverpool, I don’t think they’re as far away from challenging again as some of their fans will have you believe I.e. complete rebuild, Van Dijk is finished etc.

I think the second half proves they're still a capable team. Clearly the midfield needs a little work (a couple of players), and I think a front three of Diaz, Nunez and Salah will get goals no problem. I don't think VVD is finished, Trent probably needs replacing unless they get back to their prior dominance of possession/winning back the ball higher back up the pitch.

I dont think vvd is finished at all. I think the defence is suffering because the midfield has gone.

V annoying to see Salah miss the pen, had it been saved its retaken as Ramsdale is off his line. That was a clear penalty on Salah at the end aswell.

I wouldnt replace Trent...absolutely no chance. Would i tweak his positioning? Absolutely.

Doesn't it depend on what's better for the team? He has always been defensively suspect, at the benefit of being incredible with ball delivery and assists. However, his defensive frailties were not detrimental when the team's overall balance meant opposition couldn't expose his weakness. Perhaps his positioning can be worked upon, part of me thinks if he hasn't got that now, after playing at this level for as long as he has, will he ever get it. On the other hand, AWB has been much better this season under ETH.

The lino didn't elbow Robertson because Klopp and Tierney had an argument last season. I suspect he's just had a bit of a brain fart - he's seen Robertson walking over, complaining about something and he's possibly thought that Robertson was going to grab him or try to block his path and he's thrown an arm out to shrug him off. Unfortunately for him, Robertson doesn't grab him or block him and he went a bit ott with his attempts at shrugging him off.

He's going to get a ban, and rightly so, but he didn't go into the game with a vendetta against Robertson. Half of me hopes he doesn't get much of a ban because refs and lino's typically come as a package and there's no way he'll be officiating another Liverpool game again anytime soon and that would mean no Tierney too. Hopefully Anthony Taylor sticks the nut on one of our players next time we have him also because I can't stand him either.

I agree with this. I don't think our squad is a million miles away. I think the issue is that teams have worked out how to beat us, and our squad has slowed up simultaneously. The question for me is whether Klopp can fix the tactical issues with his style of play, to get around the loopholes which teams are exploiting. He's already tried to evolve the team through some more technical midfielders and that's backfired a bit. He deserves all the time in the world to try to work it out though.

I actually think we still have the "star" players who can win us things. It's our engine room which is letting the side down. Much as I'd like Bellingham, if it's a choice between him and 3 sensible £30-50m signings I'd take the latter.

Ideally, I'd like a new CB - not to replace VVD, but to take Matip's role in the squad, and slowly move into the first team as VVD ages.

I'd like a new full back - oddly I don't mind much which side. I think we need to move away from two full backs who bomb on though. I'd like to see us sign a left "shoulder back", to come in for Robbo and move to a back 3 when we're on the ball, reducing the risk of Trent playing in midfield.

I'd also like us to get two sensible midfielders - one a worker in the mould of Hendo, and the other a bit more technical. Palinha and Eze are the two I'd look at off the top of my head although I haven't thought about names much (unless our budget is bigger than I'm aware and we can try to get Bellingham plus other players).

Hold up

Wait a minute

Something ain’t right here

Liverpool fans are just in the happy “it’s not that bad cycle”.

They be back to despair next week.

At the moment I'm writing this off as a particularly bad season. Klopp has shown he can build a team as well as anyone. The question is whether he can rebuild one. If things haven't improved by this time next season, then there's a much bigger problem

Not to mention that no person on this forum has spent more time crying about owners and managers more than woppy has over the years. The cheek to make digs at others given his own history is bad enough but he's even resorted to quoting somebody that isn't (and never has to my knowledge) moaning about Liverpool's owners.
