Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [18th - 20th January 2025]

Think I’m firmly off the Onana train now. We need a new keeper in the summer. He’s just got too many mistakes in him, though in fairness, he has saved us a few times this season. But it’s just not good enough.

For every great save Onana makes, he makes several errors - not acceptable at all.

Overall he's inferior to De Gea. What a complete waste of money.

You probably arent but this system just isnt working.

ETH's system didn't work either.

The only thing I'd say is, at the start of the season our most threatening attacking options were Rashford (if in form) and Garnacho on the wings, and that no longer exists...

You can't blame the system for 2/3 of the goals we have conceded. The players are just average and being beaten by better teams

Mistakes aside we've performed pretty much as you'd expect in open play, the players just look inferior... mostly because they are I guess?

Brighton are a good side capable of beating anyone, so this was always going to be a tough game. I'd have taken a draw beforehand!

Another three goals conceded at OT.
Amorim must think these players are taking a dive.

You can when youre getting ripped apart at ease. You have better players then what is being shown here, well better then getting tonked at home anyway.

I feel for amorIN left a really good side to join utd. Chased the money i guess i bet he regrets it
His reputation won’t take that much of a hit, he almost joined WHU in the summer. He wasn’t exactly being linked to every big club was he.

Don’t forget he had a good game against City in the champions league final though.

I don't think it's the money, it's the opportunity to 'complete' the biggest job in world football - turning this ship around.

You can only assume he's got assurances he will get time to build the squad in his image, or what was the point of all this.

Really I can't think of a manager I'd rather have, and none of them will guarantee anything. May as well let Amorim have the next year or so to try and change something.

Pretty sure De Gea won the golden glove in the season he was dumped out the club
They unceremoniously dumped a guy who had given over a decade to the club for Onana, remember hearing loads about how much 'better with his feet' he was.

2 years on and not 1 person can tell me Onana is a better keeper than De Gea or that he's better with his feet!
