Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [1st - 12th February 2025]

This season was a write off when they kept ETH on.

We just have to take this on the chin, let Amorim sign a few players, have a preseason, and then see where things go from there. If things look hopeless in November then I will be raising concerns myself. But Amorim seems clear in what he wants, and he was impressive at Sporting - guarantees nothing here of course, but he deserves a fair chance given the state of the club and squad.

The issue is we keep having these manager/player debates after every game, it's just called inconsistency. It's not going to change overnight. Our results in 2025 have been fairly decent (until today).

They shouldn't, just the entitlement of years ago.

You're not wrong there.

I think its based on them having a good team ten years ago

That has to be it.

There are very few Man Utd players who would walk into the Palace first team. Palace and Man Utd are both mid table teams right now. Man Utd have no entitlement to win games like this. They certainly do not have the players to support that. A big reason, IMO, why they don't win games like this is because they start off thinking they should. As a team they need to start fighting for wins and earning them.

I don't get it. People talk here about giving a manager time and then seem to forget that a few games later.
It's been just under 3 months, a time where he didn't get even proper training with the players for the whole of December through the sheer number of games. He's only just made his first signings and is putting his way of working in now rather than later which will of course be problematic and he's stated that fact so many times now. He didn't even want to start mid-season and you can see why.

It's not going to be perfect, games will be turgid. Games will be terrible and, frankly, are terrible at times.

I'll judge him on his first season proper in 25/26. He may then turn out to be an abject failure, but what's the point in rising to the ABU/Liverpool/Arsenal lot on here and taking the bait time and again?

I must admit I''ve been worried about might Palace this season but I think that should be us safe now. woop

Absolutely agree, everyone knows we need a serious reset at the club yet most seem to think it's a simple 6 week process!

It's pointless comparing other managers/players at other clubs as the pressure here is just something else entirely.

There's an ingrained feeling that we should be steamrolling every team outside of the top 6 "because Man Utd", which is just totally unrealistic.

Mazaroui looked good when he joined

The club really does suck the soul out of people

A poisoned chalice

He's just not a wingback, he played well at fullback in the four and he's been good at RCB under Amorim. He's having to play a position he can't play because we don't have anyone else.

Trust the process man utd fans, a few weeks back he had you playing better than ten hag, apparently.

TBH I feel sorry for Amorim. He is lumbered with the dross that Ten Hag overpaid for. He hasn't had the chance to recruit himself and has literally been served a turd sandwich. This is made harder by the unrealistic expectations of the fans.
