Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [1st - 3rd September 2023]

He cost around £70m though, he’s been absolutely trash since he’s been there, fans/media/pundits whoever it is should be asking more for him. I get that it’s not his fault that he cost so much and the pressure of that tag must be massive.

Sancho has been an embarrassment since he joined, ETH has seemingly tried to help him. There were issues with his conduct in the past too.

Would not fancy my chances against Roy AND Micah, he's a big lad. :p

I kind of get what he’s saying, pressure is surely going to start mounting with the way this season has started for them. Very lucky against Wolves, poor against Notts, battered by Spurs and a loss today.

His signings have so far been a disaster and even if he’s not had full support, there has to be a scape goat. Glazers aren’t exactly going to come out and say they’re horrendous owners and take responsibility for the shambles at the club.

ETH will definitely have to shoulder some of the blame as he's been allowed to sign the players he wants. That being said, I don't think any manager would succeed at the moment.

Still very early days though in fairness.

Finished third last season, won the EFL cup and got to the FA cup final (without a striker) - I can't see him getting fired before this season finishes.

Didn't he want other players before we panic bought last season, and this season also, instead we got Mount and players on loan, and Evans. Do you think he really wanted Amrabat to be signed at the final half hour?

He wanted FDJ over Casemiro, but that was about it. Amrabat will be a good signing hopefully, Mount I'm not so sure about...

I think he's done generally well and people are jumping the gun big time, but this season must be an improvement on the last.

Just watched MOTD. Brilliant defending from Gabriel for the Garnacho offside. He stops himself dead with his feet together, and that ended up being the difference between off and on.

From the highlights a draw would have been a fair result, but in the round United are lucky to have two wins this season - they could easily have lost points to Wolves and Forest.

Well he obviously wanted Kane too. But he's been mostly backed and the ones we haven't got are for good reasons. Obviously we're suffering with multiple injuries right now (I mean how many teams go to the Emirates and were within mm's of claiming a win while having their 5th and 6th choice CB's on the field? I'm going to say none) and once again we moved slowly in the window so are missing signings for our first few matches.

Gabriel is quite clearly holding Evans back from closing Rice down...
Yes, and Evans has a hold of his shirt

That is before the corner is even taken, that happens at every corner in every game mate. Not often you see players two handed holding a defender back from stopping a shot though. But of course VAR is incompetent.

Arsenal have clearly worked on the deep corner and Gabriel's job is to be a blocker. It happens at every corner and as manic shows, Evans was manhandling him as much as Gabriel was blocking him.
