Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23rd - 25th November 2024]

This might be the strongest 20 man squad that a United manager has been able to field for a while. Only really Martinez missing. No youth team on the bench for the first time in weeks.
Anyone else think that Rashford and Garnacho don't like each other - just a vibe I get when I see them play in those positions?

Yoro? Lindelof? Maguire? We're playing a back 3 with 2 fit CB's, could do with a few more back.

They both play the same position and neither of them like to pass it when they could shoot. I imagine they both get annoyed if the other is playing over them and when they play together neither of them looks for the other very often.

Tough to say really given wingers don't often pass to each other and Garnacho tends to not pass much to anyone. Don't think it's Rashford specific. Rashford set him up for that goal Garnacho scored on the volley under RVN

United had relied on selfish wingers for a lot of our threat for years now so its not surprising thats what we have in Rashford and Garnacho. Thats something Amorim is going to have to work out because neither of thems first, second or third thought is to pass.

On the topic of this match, we need some more mobility and pace in the middle. Casemiro and Eriksen aren't that.

He's not had much time with the players, all that really matters right now is a win, the performance comes second.
Exactly. Today will give him ideas on what works and what doesn’t. Their fitness won’t be up to his standards, I’m sure. He’s only had one training session with the full squad.

I've sort of written off Magaluf. Yoro hasn't been in a squad since pre-season so it's more good news but I don't expect too much from an 18yo CB. However your point is well made as even in 3-4-3 we would like another CB on the bench.

Yes that's what I was seeing. Garnacho is a talent for sure but he has a petulant streak that needs managing. His performances aren't consistently at a level that would make me turn a blind eye to it.

Interestingly, Fernandes can't get into this game from what I've seen so far. That's not all bad because it means we keep the ball for a bit longer!!

Evans has been caught upfield a couple of times but he actually gets back pretty swiftly for a 38yo.

Ipswich are a young and energetic side and its showing at the moment vs our ponderous oldies.

And that wasn't "Casemiro following through", that was Casemiro kicking the ball normally.
