Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [25th - 27th November 2023]

I'm a Liverpool fan, this is nothing to do with Chelsea v Newcastle - it's just an example. Would your view change if I was commenting on a different match?

New rules put in place to reduce time wasting / preventing quick free kicks being taken. Thick footballer can't comprehend the concept of leave the ball alone and let the other team play the ball. Doesn't matter which match you refer to there's plenty of thickos that don't understand both on and off the park.

1. I'm aware of the rules, I'm questioning whether they're right or whether they could do with some refinement.

2. You appear to be calling me thick - fancy retracting that?

1. Doesn't need refined. Just needs consistency. There's been a period in the last couple of months where players have got away with kicking the ball away without punishment.

2. I wasn't, more of a general statement of footballers and football fans. The sing when you're winning syndrome I think it is.

Sure, but do you really think that a player should be sent off, changing the whole match, for gently knocking the ball away and then gently pulling somebody's shirt? To me, given what's at stake, the punishment is far too serious and the player should instead be forced to be substituted, or sin binned

You could apply that to any number of incidents. Dissent for example if a footballer is too thick to keep they're trap shut then the resultant yellow could have them off the pitch, same for taking your shirt off to celebrate. Making excuses for things they should know is not the way to go and the latter part of your suggestion is rugby and we all know football and rugby don't mix :p
