Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [4th - 6th November 2023]

Ive just seen the foul on Van Dijk in the box. Now, if we are going back 2 minutes to give City a penalty that at best was soft the other week then this is a penalty. In fact its an absolute stone waller lmao. Of course the outcome was a Klopp booking.

Just another weekend of shambolic refereeing.

Players being fouled from corners are only given to clubs who are state owned and the ref's have recently been over to referee a game or 2 in those countries.

Blame the refs all you want but you gotta force the issue sometimes, you’re just not good enough to win the league.
Force the issue? If teams arent getting blatant penalties that were given just last week then its an issue isnt it. Just yesterday Luton break and score with a handball ive seen given several times already this season. You cant force any issues when refs are handing points out like they are. As for winning the league, we wont when we have absolute rank decisions go against us every week whilst we bring back play for City for a soft at best penalty in a derby.

Yeah I’ve just seen the foul on VVD and that’s a stonewall pen if you go off others that have been given this season.
Its an absolute stone waller seemingly being ignored. The outcome? A yellow for Klopp. They wonder why he gets so annoyed

It’s far easier for Klopp to blame the referee than to take responsibility for it taking 95 minutes for Liverpool to score against a team that were in League 2 six years ago.

What has that got to do with referees making rank decisions on the pitch? You can do both...you can blame Klopp for not making subs early and the referee being woeful.

yes, force the issue. Change your tactics whatever it takes. Klopp couldn’t find a way to beat a low block team despite having numerous shots and a potential miss of the season. That’s what winners do in all sports, force the issue.

Luton’s Town’s entire revenue last season was less than a quarter of VVD’s transfer fee. One or two dubious refereeing decisions shouldn’t be the difference between Liverpool beating Luton or not.

Klopp has had a stinker more than the ref and yet faces zero criticism.

Nunez bags that tap in from 5 yards (was it even as far as 5 yards :D?)Liverpool win the game /shrug

But let’s argue over a 50/50 penalty

I honestly couldnt care less. Klopp has had plenty of criticism on here, what are you watching?

The point is, referees shouldnt be a factor in how a game is decided yet they are and its happening every game. Change the game and we have this :

Is this a joke?

I thought it was behind the ball? (which you may mean btw..)

"any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent" << is from the official FA site.

100% correct.. if the player who receives it was behind the ball when it was kicked/touched then it makes no difference if the ball goes forwards of backards.

@BaZ87 hope you don't mind me quoting you above, just trying to clarify for @Vanquish-Storm and @HangTime ..
Yeah, I was talking rubbish at that point. It's unusual for a player receiving the ball from a backwards pass to be in front of the ball because that implies by definition the pass must be behind them and hence they have to move towards their own goal to receive the pass, but obviously that can happen.

Play it back in real time with multiple angles.
The fact that has spilt most rival fans if it was a foul or not was the right call for VAR not to over turn the on field decision.

People seem to forget that?

You have a point with the joelinton push, and at the time I did think that’s what the goal would be disallowed for, but how many of those do you see brought back for a penalty when it’s the defender on the attacker, the answer is nowhere near as many as there should be. We got away with one yes, but it’s about time an attacker got one over a defender, and before you say I’m saying that because it’s newcastle, I said yesterday that Luton’s goal should have came back for a penalty to Liverpool.

The Joelinton foul only splits fans when you consider what people "think" should be a foul. Football is very soft these days. 9/10 that would be given as an easy foul. Anywhere on the pitch, let alone in the box.

There are plenty of fouls I think shouldn't be given on a "thats stupid" basis but I think it should be given on a "thats given almost every time" basis.

Bigpig will be raging at you for your balanced opinion being a Toon fan

Does make me laugh when every single supporter seems to think their club is the most hard done by with decisions

I am sure Baz has some site which shows the statistics but just from what I have seen Hojlunds disallowed goal against Brighton was more in play than the Newcastle one.

The Man City Penalty was soft as anything.

Never!!

As for balance it has even spilt experts. Gabriel was man handling Wilson the whole game and we hardly got a foul.

/shurg

The only point of the goal I really don’t have an answer for is the offside. I have no clue what’s really going on after watching it a few more times so I just settle for on field decision :D

Originally I thought it came off Gabriel backside.
