Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [4th - 6th November 2023]

If you can come up with a logical explanation as to why he was complaining and got booked for other than those big decisions then please share it. Otherwise, you're reaching :)

Its not down to me to prove what he was complaining about. That is on you.

He's said from day 1 that he dislikes VAR and wishes we didn't have it . In the interview he doesn't dig out VAR or ref and said we have to accept their decision.

You pointed to the decisions being correct and therefore him not having anything to say about VAR, I point out that he got booked for complaining about the decisions and he's ended up giving an interview complaining about VAR and you're still going on :D

Did he ****  He said there is too much standing around, not that the decisions were wrong. At least be honest ffs.
Did you watch the interview? He went on to say that we need to accept the refs decisions (which were wrong and in Spurs favour) and something about we're going to end up with a game being ref'd by somebody miles down the road. How is that not complaining about VAR? :D

Then prove he was booked for complaining about VAR decisions and not something else then. You are making the claim.

I said he got booked for complaining about the decisions that you said he wasn't going to complain about. And if you're asking me to write into the PGMOL then sorry I don't have time. If you believe he was complaining about the weather or something else then rock on.

Yes I did. He didn't say they were wrong.

He's said from the first time he was asked that he doesn't like VAR and it spoils the game. Doesn't mean he would complain and the decisions and he didn't.

I didn't say he did. I said he complained about VAR, which he did and you said he wouldn't. You really need to stop changing your argument.

Yeah the VAR decsions.

Well he managed to get himself booked so he couldn't have taken the decisions too well. Maybe he believes Spurs players should need to commit 3 red card offences before they get sent off, not 2.

Clearly about the VAR sending off. Romero deserved his red and Ange didn't disagree or say the decision was wrong, he said he couldn't comment. VAR didn't think Udogie was a red, nothing to complain about. They didn't get involved for his second yellow. He did say offsides take too long and I don't think anyone disagrees with that, it does take way too long for a lot of the decisions.

So which is it? Earlier when I said he got booked for complaining about the decisions you were going on "prove he was complaining about VAR" and when he complains about VAR you're now saying it's the decisions. You just keep changing your mind :D

@C Kent made a comment suggesting he was going to complain about VAR after the game, you doubted it and were proven wrong. It's easy for Ange to say we need to accept the ref's decisions and how he doesn't like VAR when the ref makes wrong decisions in Spurs' favour.

I thought Postecoglu’s interview was spot on. VAR ruined tonight’s game as a spectacle. Chelsea fans may be pleased with the result but they were the ones singing “**** VAR” during the game. People pay to see football, not to wait around in the cold.

Good to see him stick up for the referees and accept that sometimes luck isn’t on your side in football.

I reckon Big Ange has got himself booked because he’s told the assistant ref he’s going to play a fly keeper, which the assistant has said he can’t do. So he’s then threw a huff and said well **** it then we’re only gonna play half the pitch.

Swearing at the officials like that is a no no. :p

He's not alone in his complaints about VAR. I've never been a fan of it however I've always believed that it was here to stay but I think we're starting to reach the point where it's so universally disliked that maybe it won't be around for much longer.

We hear shouts about how it works in x or y other sports and there's definitely a case that it's used better in some other sports but I think football is just too different from these other sports where it does work. The likes of cricket and rugby are stop start sports, unlike football, so they can accommodate breaks in the game to check decisions without it effecting the fan experience. A huge part of what makes football the most loved sport in the world by a huge distance is that emotional connection between fans and the game as it's going on and VAR is helping kill that.

Well that was an interesting week of football to say the least:D

Ugh I just realised we kick off at 5:30 this afternoon lol god I’m not going to make it to the end of the season!!

Romero first was an orange. Udogie should have gone for the stubs up first one. Still they were both idiots that cost us the game.

There’s no such thing as an orange card. It was a reckless off the ground 2 foot lunge with no control and both feet with studs showing.

It doesn’t matter if he won the ball either, if Sterling doesn’t see it coming he gets his leg snapped.

It’s basically the tackle that IFAB would use as an example of a red. It’s been outlawed for so long you barely see them in top flight football now.

That first tackle by Udogie is an absolute stinker. He should have been sent off against us and again that first is a 3 match ban, instead he gets off with 1.

Appreciate the way big Ange speaks and his views, pretty sure he shares them with 95% of the footballing community. The depth going into some of these decisions will kill the game.

In this season alone were going to break records for the length of time spent on the pitch. Can't be good for players either stopping and starting, muscles getting cold etc.

They should just make it a clear and obvious error and leave it at that.

Anything subjective should be left alone unless it is clear the ref has missed something or made an error. Would be far simpler then.
