Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [10th - 11th January 2015]

Where did the other 2 come from?

Most matches have 4-6 subs in the 2nd half plus a goal or 2 without 5 mins being added on.

Southampton created at least a couple of minutes with their cheating at the end there. Forster not taking a kick, them not taking a throw, Tadic pretending to be injured etc.

Southampton defended really well 90% of the game and got that little bit of luck to get the goal. They deserved it more than we did.

Remember when Southampton sold 4-5 of their best players in one window? Good times.

I'm sure Brendan Rodgers remembers -

Rodgers said:
“I have absolutely no sympathy for Southampton,”
“They have a choice as a club. They don’t have to sell. They had that choice. Maybe Southampton’s objectives have changed. They were on course to be a Champions League club, I believe, but, obviously, that has changed.

Their cheating? Every single team in the league does it. It's gamesmanship at worst, intelligent at best.

Why on earth would you play Di Maria, a player who is fantastic at picking the ball up from deep an injecting pace and a brilliant crosser of the ball, up front? Why would you do that? Anyone?

Key for them was that Lallana aside they either had ready made replacements or lost easily replaceable players (Lambert mainly).

Keeping Schneiderlin was huge and the success of the Tadic and Pella signings more than made up for Lallana and Lambert.

Its pretty standard to give 30 seconds per sub + whatever celebration time per goal

Free kicks could well have added some more time

Its not exactly an obscene amount of time being added

Why would we need him out wide when we have Valencia? Clearly our master plan is to spend that much on a player, then just have him as a body in the box who can sigh when Valencia ***** up for the 60th time in the game.

I said when Chelsea drew with them over Christmas that they were the best defensive set up I've seen this season.

fitness concerns - as he has only had one sub appearance (against Yoevil in the FA Cup) since being injured for how ever many weeks

He wasn't exactly stellar when he got the ball deep either today....

Defended really well? Let's face it, defending a team that is 90% two players crossing who can't cross is not exactly difficult, and they nearly screwed that up (Forster missing an easy cross)

Wasn't there an injury the whole ball being kicked out thing?

That was the first half.

That 30 second thing is a rough guide. As I said, most matches have similar amounts of subs and more goals without 5 minutes being added.

5 minutes added on in a half where little to nothing happened was an obscene amount. Even when you use the 30 second guide you only get 3 minutes.
