Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [10th - 13th March 2012]

Yeah, City definitely has a harder run-in, I do not envy them at all. I vastly prefer United's fixtures.

The derby on the 30th of April is looking more and more likely to be the major decider in the title race.

Evans has been out best centre back this season, Carrick has been our best central midfielder this season as well but haters gonna hate :o

Why is it that both Evans and Smalling look brilliant while partnering Rio or Vidic, but when played together they look absolutely dreadful, it cant be just down to experience (no disrespect, but I think if Smalling had Evans' experience, he would be MUCH better than Evans is currently, who ever his parner is)

I was only following the match via txt, so I will have to wait for the highlights - where Utd lucky not to concede a penalty at 1-0 (Evra tackle on the edge of the box)?

Very fortunate today (despite the number of misses / hitting the post) - but hopefully we can build on this and build a (larger) gap before the derby game at the end of April

How can you say we were very fortunate today if you didn't see the game?

A long time ago I made myself my own little rule that if the game isn't on TV I wont watch it so like you I haven't seen the game but from what I could tell on Sky bar the first 20 minutes we battered them and should have scored a lot more than we did.

So it seems that playing him today was to try and show him what he could be doing and that he is valued. The crowd getting behind him and chanting and cheering for him was good.

I hope this makes a difference, I really do (but Im not holding my breath) :):(

In regards to the penalty (which could easily have been given)

While Utd may have battered West Brom, I believe they made De Gea make a few good saves early on too .....its all swings and roundabouts :)

Ifs, buts and maybe's lol

He said they'd do well not to drop three points in a few of the games,

Wolves v Man Utd - Sun 18 Mar
Man Utd v Fulham - Mon 26 Mar
Blackburn v Man Utd - Mon 2 Apr
Man Utd v QPR - Sun 8 Apr
Wigan v Man Utd - Wed 11 Apr
Man Utd v Aston Villa - Sun 15 Apr
Man Utd v Everton - Sun 22 Apr
Man City v Man Utd - Mon 30 Apr
Man Utd v Swansea - Sun 6 May
Sunderland v Man Utd - Sun 13 May

Manyoo would do well not to drop points against Sunderland, Swansea, Everton, Villa, Citeh (and Wolves, if they're allowed to be included in Citeh's "hard list").

Still the derby's the decider.

Out of interest Who do you support?

Not even a ManU fan but even I can notice you trolling them every week.

Big result for ManU today, much better run so I would say its ball in their court now.

Is this ref an idiot? We were trying to take a quick free kick, a Wigan player stands a yard away from the ball and blocks it when we play it, yet the ref lets Wigan keep the ball...

Wigan looking better than us at the moment, we need a few changes to get the team going.

I would favour the Man Utd's run-in compared to Man crappys:

But on the day there is no easy fixture, but United must have better odds on paper.

The guy I'm responding to included Wolves in Citeh's "could drop points" list :o.

What's so ridiculous about including Swansea/Everton/Villa? Obviously anyone would favour Manyoo in a match against them, but they're entirely capable of getting a draw, or snatching a win. Look at how Swansea played at the Emirates, dominating the possession for ages, etc. Look at Everton's last three home Premier League games... three wins against big teams. Etc.

Firstly the guy you were responding to was me. If you cant figure out who's said what then maybe we should stop here? Secondly I didn't do any "could drop points to list", I simply listed City's next 7 games before the derby, again you may want to figure this kind of stuff out before you reply in future.

As for your argument, Villa have won at OT once in the PL era and I think they've only ever drawn with us one at OT during that time as well. Everton may well have won 3 big games recently but they've all been at Goodison, those 3 results have no baring on how they perform away from home and again during the PL era Everton have never won at OT and I think they've only ever drawn with us once during that time as well.

Like guyfawkes5 said there are no games that are a gimmie, I was even cautious over today's game given WBA have the third best away record i the league but it's plainly obvious to everyone that City's fixtures are far harder than ours.

no disrespect to West Brom or Swansea - but both Manchester vlubs will have much harder games than they did today before the end of the season

Al Habsi with a brilliant save, would be very surprised if the MoTM wasn't a goalkeeper..

EDIT: All over, 1-1. Before the game I would have said that was 2 points lost, after seeing how poorly we played, I would say that was 1 point gained..

Cities only hope imho was to stay on top, united will kick on now as usual and city will choke.

United won't drop many more points from now til the end of the season. With the fixtures, they are comfortable now. I don't even think the derby will matter.

SAF telling Rooney to get 40 goals this season (ie 14 more)

Is this inspriational or more pressure when he doesnt need it?

Considering the state of hte Europa league /FA cup campaigns - Im not entirely sure this helps (its not like Rooney would not try to score as many as he humanly could either way) - 14 goals in whats likely to be less than 11 games (ie I dont think Rooney will play every one, ie the "double header" of QPR at home and Wigan away within 3 days - I would guess he would be a sub in one/and or subbed in the other at the very least)

I think, but I can't quite remember, that this came from a column that Neville did. People will say he's biased but I think he's shown since being a pundit that he's actually very good & fair.

Just another view on it all anyway:

EDIT: Yeah, it was from a Daily Mail article he wrote.
