Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [10th - 14th Feb 2012]

he is poison to your club. dalglish has a problem on his hands now and your investors don't want to see their stock crash.

what's to love?

Providing he's doing his job on the pitch then he'll have to do a lot more before the club get rid of him.

Of course the club would prefer all it's players to be model role pros but they realise that success on the pitch effects the bottom line a hell of a lot more than controversy off it.

...what baffles most of the other posters here, liverpool fans. is that (again, just like monday night) you wont simply admit suarez is a problem to your club

Well, for me, he was handed a punishment and served it. I think that if he agreed to shake the hand of Evra, then he should have done it. He has apologied to KD, the fans and LFC for those actions.

...but would rather compare him to other players in the past, cantona (bizarelly) being one of them. an incident that happened in the mid 90's, which was a crazy act, there is no doubting that but an act which never happened again. and then, you bleat on about ferguson apologising in light of dalglish's poor media handling?

I think you have misread the comments. I feel since Fergie, who has had his fair share of unsavoury behaviour from his players, and not sacked off the players for whatever his personal views on them might be, then he has no right to dictate to other teams/managers how they should deal with their players, when such a moment comes along.
That is the only reason i feel an apology is due, but i won't hold my breath ;).

To be fair he is banging them in so well worth the hassle...

As a neutral who has no vested interest in any Premier league club, I like to see good players playing well. I was happy when Suarez joined Liverpool as I do think he is an excellent player, he is always busy, he makes things happen, I think he is one of those players that you want to play when you are watching a game and I was in no doubt that he would be a very important player for Liverpool. I like players with a bit of character don't really mind many of the so called 'controversial' players, it makes it interesting!
I would very much like for Suarez to knuckle down and focus on football, but tbh I can't see it happening. Personally I think that Suarez has become a liability and if I was a Liverpool fan I would be very happy to see the back of him, he is more trouble than he is worth imo.

9 goals in 23 appearences this season, after just completing your first 12 months in a different league?

the question is does that stat mean anything if the headlines in the New York Times continue? (american owners arent going to care that much, unless the sponsors say something, about english headlines )

You shouldn't dismiss everything that happens off the pitch, I read earlier that Liverpool's sponsors and owners both stepped in this weekend, that's not something that should be shrugged off

I've also heard from a Bloomberg reporter that Standard Chartered weren't that fussed.

And I didn't dismiss anything, I simply stated that success on the pitch effects the bottom line far more than any controversies.

oh they were. this whole thing has shown who really pulls the strings.
lol

They were? How did you find this out? A Bloomberg reporter that spoke to them said that there was no real issue but they wanted it to be known that they were disappointed with the (lack of a) handshake.

that's called good PR. king kenny should take note.

And how do you know that they were that fussed about it?

Did you find that source for the Spurs' £500m/10year stadium naming rights deal too?

no, it wont be for £500m (that was in a banter thread) but it will be substantial.

anyway, back on point. it would be commercial suicide for them NOT to be that fussed about it. the days of not mixing sport and politics are gone.

comolli and henry are earning their money atleast!
