Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [10th - 14th January 2014]

The bottom half of the table is really tight as things stand, Hull City in 10th are only 5pts above the relegation zone... nobody is safe.

Spurs get a fairly route one type goal, both defenders drawn to Ade who heads it on, Eriksen runs on to it and absolutely blasted it into the goal.

Fulham pull one back, all three goals in the game from set pieces. Half time seems to suggest that that Cardiff should certainly have had a goal.

One of the problems I highlighted the other week is if refs think they'll always be told when a goal counts and they start to rely on it, will they trust their own eyes if the tech doesn't say goal. Will they even be watching for it again if they think that decision has essentially been taking away from them. Without goal line tech would the ref or linesman have given that goal.

However, replays would have caught every goal so far that has potentially needed the goal line tech AND it would have gotten that one, and a million other decisions....

EDIT:- Great freekick from Mirallas, should be safe at this point, Everton utterly dominated and played great but you're always vulnerable at 1-0, at 2-0 I see no way back in to it.

Southampton get their goal, west ham insanely lucky to not concede a penalty, not sure who it was but he had one arm around both sides of Campbell and pulled him away and down from a cross that he missed by inches, definite penalty but not given.

Johnson just scored, took his shirt off... was on a yellow card... will see what happens.

EDIT:- Did give him a yellow for it, apparently didn't have one earlier, was fairly sure he did but must have been holding it up to someone near him.

Defoe gets a goal in what I guess is his last game, decent goal.

What's the deal with Defoe then, I thought it was reported he'd signed a contract with whatever MLS team it was. Is it a contract to move for the start of the MLS season or something?

Haven't got a clue when the MLS season starts.

West Ham's season goes from bad to worse, no defenders, so the new defender ijures another one and Tomkins goes and gets himself a red card.

Looks like he swung a high foot and caught(or maybe player dived, couldn't see) the player, not sure yet if that was a second yellow or straight red.

I think it's the end of February that he's going. Spurs will probably keep him on the team sheet for January, then when the new sheets are submitted on 1 Feb will probably leave him off it and use him only for Europa league matches until he says farewell.

Long should have done better, your defence wasn't remotely ready to react to him being played back onside like that. Keeper did well enough but really a striker shouldn't give the keeper any chance in hell in that situation.

Game over, feel bad for Cardiff and can't stand Alladyce, ref not giving a goal which looked fairly obvious because his watch didn't tell him he was allowed to.... bit ridiculous.

Brentford, Orient and Wolves all won so it's 55/54/52 points in the same order, with Wolves having played an extra game.
