Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [10th - 14th January 2014]

Interplay from Kagawa and Januzaj is fantastic.

I can't stand Danny Welbeck, smug *****. He's average for the entirety of games yet because so many chances are given to him on a plate he's bound to score 1, he celebrates likes he's world class.

He's an excellent player. Needs to work on his finishing, but aside from that is very good. And chances put to him on a plate? Yes, he's had a few this match but generally United have barely created anything recently.

He misses 2 or 3 genuinely great chances a game.

Name one thing he excels at, one world class ability or prospective ability?

Shooting, crap.
Passing, average.
Movement, I'd say above average.
Control, crap, bobbles all over the shop.

He can run around for 90 minutes, but that alone shouldnt warrant a place in a team that wants to challenge for major honours.

That's like saying a goalkeeper is very good, needs to work in his saves but aside from that is very good.

Not really. If the only purpose of a striker is to score goals, why doesn't Hernandez start? Simple - his all around play is awful. The French 1998 World Cup team is the best example of this - Guivarch started as their lone striker with the sole purpose of playing in Zidane and Dugarry.

The current Arsenal team is similar. Giroud isn't the best finisher, but holds the ball for Ozil, Walcott, Wilshere, Cazorla etc brilliantly.

Its probably the best this season

Night and day between the 1st half and now

I'd say the first game against Leverkusen was his best this season probably. That was when I thought Moyes was finally beginning to understand the players...then he changed it all next match

Doesnt change the fact that as Welbeck takes four decent chances to score every goal, he isnt good enough for Man Utd

Welbeck's is nothing special. The simple reason he doesn't start is because both Fergie and now Moyes prefer a grafter. Hernandez is much, much better.

Atletico vs Barca just started, neither team playing Bony oso could be a much more interesting game :p

Bony has been poop today, dropping deep, poor touch with almost every pass in to him, pointless pass, either backwards or giving it away. He should stay up top and work the back line to make space for others. Didn't help that Shelvey would get to the edge of the final third then spend half an hour making a decision on where to pass.
