Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [11 - 14th May 2013]

Rooney strolling around the changing room not really being accepted by the others. Serves him right. Trying to steal the glory. If you don't want to be at that horrible disgusting club (:p) then don't join in when the good times are going.

How exactly is he trying to steal the glory? Don't know why people are being so ****** about it. If he wants to go then he wants to go. He's been a great player for us but no-one has to stay for life. He made the request in private to the manager, didn't go to the media and moan about it.

Well, there are two things I guess, he may have just wanted them to throw him a new big 4-5 year contract having just won the title, and it backfired, they let it leak, and called his bluff, leaving him in huge trouble. If they'd said, "sure, here £300k a week" there would be no him leaving story nor any problems with the team now.

If he really wanted to leave, it seems utterly absurd not to ask the club AFTER the season has finished, why tarnish all the celebrations, completely stupid of him though to a degree if he's looking for a big move before other guys move might be important to get it known to clubs he wants to leave. IE PSG might offer someone else a huge move if they don't know Rooney is available, the moves of the likes of Gotze may have wanted him to get it out there that he's up for a move before all the biggest teams nail down their targets.

Let's be honest, he has never come across as THE most intelligent of people has he? As much as he may be a genius on the pitch, he is probably not one off of it. Will be interesting to see if he gets his picture taken with the trophy, every one else has not yet had him involved in their pictures.

Because there is a thing called dignity. If you have gone and said you want to leave somewhere, don't then bask in their celebrations from what the team has achieved. As someone else said, wait a few weeks then ask for a transfer, don't do it now. Absolutely stupid. That is all that can be said. There is no other way of looking at it.

NEWSFLASH

He has won the premier league as much as any player in that team (more than a lot of them) and has every right to celebrate! It's irrelevant when he made it, the season has been over for us for a few weeks and most of the players haven't put much effort in on the pitch!

Rooney wasn't putting that much effort into games before Utd won it either

Well you could say the same about Valencia and Welbeck, should they be celebrating?

He's still our joint second top scorer and has been a crucial player for us.

Stop being silly. If Joseph Goebbels had gone behind Hitlers back during WW2, then would not celebrate an allied victory. He would have slinked away and hid somewhere.

This is the same with Rooney. Don't go saying you want to leave, and request a transfer, then celebrate what the team you no longer want to be a part of have accomplished.

It is just a simple level of human decency!

What the **** are you talking about it? Come back when you can have a discussion without bringing Hitler into it.

The most astonishing thing I've ever read on OcUK forums. And that is saying something.

Congrats.

:D

Ok, so without bringing Adolf into it. If you win something, and go to the lengths to put in an OFFICIAL request to leave, you do not want to be a part of that anymore, then when the thing you do not want to be a part of anymore wins something, you should not then chose to celebrate with them as you do not want to be a part of that when it does not suit you.

Simples. Really, if you cannot see that, you need to go see a therapist. Perhaps Hitlers therapist!

Well that's just ********. He's been part of the team for 36 out of the 38 games and has every right to celebrate. He's hardly stabbing us in the back, he's made an official request to leave. No player is a slave and he has every right to leave if he wants! If he was talking about next season then I could understand, he has no right to talk about Moyes or how we're going to do next season, but he has every right to celebrate us winning a title with his help.

Amazing.

They are also not on ~250k a week either.

I despise Welbeck (for being anywhere near the 1st team squad) and feel sorry for Valencia, but they usually still TRY their hardest, even if it doesn't come off. Quite a number of matches (which I believe you have even commented the same) Rooney has obviously not even tried that hard.

That's what annoys me the most at any rate

edit - I have no problem him asking to leave, and being the 2nd time he should be escorted out the door. However his timing stunk, imo he should have done it after the last game of the season (as he didn't know about the retirement)
