Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [11 - 14th May 2013]

really hope they dont offer him another stupid contract.

he wants to go, he hasnt performed good enough for the last season.

he dont want to be here so get rid!

Unless it is all about the money why would you ask for a transfer when you've just won the title and a new manager, who might play you, is arriving? Does he really think he'll cope without pie a chips in a foreign land?

Great interview with Fergie on Sky. I got quite emotional again when he said he's retiring for his wife as she lost her sister recently. :(

Im not sure how Utd can get a decent price for WR if he forces the situation (which it looks like he is doing)

I just really hope it isn't Benzema coming in , in his place

Chelsea isn't that foreign (Im not saying Utd will willingly sell to Chelsea, but all the rumours suggest WR wants to go there and a few of the english players want him to come) lol

If he does leave, I would him to go somewhere like PSG - Im just not sure that's realistic.

After their legal fight, maybe Moyes is as bad as SAF in his eyes

If he asked for the transfer request he wouldn't have known SAF would being retiring which would explain why it didn't matter about Moyes or not.

That's the thing, it has to be money/ego related now.

I don't understand why Rooney asking for a transfer is such a big deal. He hasn't been at his best for a long while and it'll probably work out best for both player and club.

All the rumours are he asked for the transfer a couple weeks ago, and Fergie announced his retirement, to the shock of the entire squad, a few days ago... he asked for the transfer before knowing Fergie was gone.

I think mostly he wants more money because he see's the silly cash guys like Ibra are getting at PSG, and mostly he's only got 2 years left on his contract and isn't getting better, and seems to be getting less fit each year. If he wants a contract extension 2 years from now its not going to be a bumper contract, if he can go to somewhere like PSG on a 5-6 year contract now, at 28(ish?), while they are still paying stupid money trying to compete in the CL he could potentially get a silly contract(even more silly factoring in how much tax they pay there) for a significant length.

Rooney strolling around the changing room not really being accepted by the others. Serves him right. Trying to steal the glory. If you don't want to be at that horrible disgusting club (:p) then don't join in when the good times are going.

It sounds like he has asked for it again, or certainly hasn't acted like he wants to "patch things up" with the club.

I know the original request was before the retirement announcement though

Can imagine Lampard, Terry and Cole begging him to go to Chelsea because they've got the Spanish Emile Heskey upfront and need someone to score goals. Plus Terry probably wants to bang his wife.

Well, there are two things I guess, he may have just wanted them to throw him a new big 4-5 year contract having just won the title, and it backfired, they let it leak, and called his bluff, leaving him in huge trouble. If they'd said, "sure, here £300k a week" there would be no him leaving story nor any problems with the team now.

If he really wanted to leave, it seems utterly absurd not to ask the club AFTER the season has finished, why tarnish all the celebrations, completely stupid of him though to a degree if he's looking for a big move before other guys move might be important to get it known to clubs he wants to leave. IE PSG might offer someone else a huge move if they don't know Rooney is available, the moves of the likes of Gotze may have wanted him to get it out there that he's up for a move before all the biggest teams nail down their targets.
