Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [11th - 16th September 2015]

Both managers pretty deluded but Rogers is nuts if thats what he genuinely thinks.

Best young manager in the world ™

"I thought in the first half we defended well but had nowhere near enough quality and composure on the ball.

"We were disappointed with a couple of the goals. I never thought the free kick was a free-kick. Penalty, I think Herrera has done well, young Joe Gomez will learn he has to stay on his feet.

"We got back into the game with a brilliant goal but then we concede a disappointed third and that kills is.

"We need to be a lot technically better than we showed today. Over the first five games now creating goals is something we need to look at. It is too easy sometimes for us to go direct to Christian Benteke, who was excellent today.

"I have a group who will respond but we have to be technically better."
Deluded.

"I have a group who will respond but we have to be technically better." Didnt he say that after the West Ham game too?

Out of interest, what should he have said? Should he have said, I have a group that's mentally weak and this is a massive set back?

Some honesty instead of his usual **** would be a refreshing change. Mentally weak? He set the team up to grab a 0-0 or pinch one on the break - when they went 1 up, his team, his tactics went out the window and he had nothing to come back with, nada.

He has had 4 seasons now (or rather is in his 4th), if the team is mentally weak its just a reflection of himself.

Seriously, what though? Managers are always lambasted in their post match interviews after a defeat but they're in a no win situation. Look what happened to Sherwood when he hammered Spurs players after a defeat.

There were times at the end of last season, when there was nothing to play for and nothing to lose, when Rodgers should have been a bit more honest in his post match comments but 5 games into the season?

edit: as for your edit. I'm in no way defending Rodgers for the way he set the side up. I've raised my concerns about him many a time in the last few months. I was talking specifically about the interview criticism - managers can't appear negative every time a result goes against them, they've got to stay positive for the sake of the side.

Marshall looks like he's got a cool head and took his goal well but he got a bit lucky with the deflection so it wasn't in the same league as Benteke's worldy, which by the way was far better than Rooney's 'shinner' v Man.C.

Tyler didn't scream as loud for Benteke though.

Love people reading into post match interviews they're a joke and just a good chance for people to see some managers act like idiots, give it a rest, he's doing ****e at the moment along with nearly every player but that is the least important part of it zzzzz
