Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [12 - 16th January 2013]

Don't read these threads they're always full of bitters and Mancs moaning at each other, I only come in to instigate trouble.

And maun, Thundy and there's a couple of other people I forget who now. Someone who supports Dundee as well.

Odds on Webb awarding a last minute penalty to Liverpool in front of the stretford end from a Suarez dive? 1000s/1?

or more likely, Webb denying Liverpool a stone wall penalty in the last minute with the teams level. :p

You know he is going to have some influence on the game, which way who knows.

Before it all kicks off on Sunday, let's be honest:

If Webb awards anything contentious to United, all the Liverpool fans will be crying that it's a fix.
If Webb awards anything contentious to Liverpool, all the United fans will be crying that he's trying to prove his impartiality.

All referees influence the game to an extent, the more high profile ones get singled out.

Webb seems to do it a fair bit though.

Liverpool vs united games are littered with bad calls or very debatable decisions, last season was actually one of the better ones in all 3 games.

This season was an all round inconsistent mess.
2010/11 we had Carragher not being sent off for an absolutely horrendous tackle, Rafael could easily have walked too for his lunge at Lucas.
Berbatov dive in the cup game
O'Shea staying on vs us in the 3-2, albeit harsh he was last man. (We deserved to lose though, ****ing worst I've ever watched at OT, was pathetic from Hodgson.)
2009-10 the penalty for the foul outside the box at OT.
Carragher not being sent off again for the foul on Owen.
(Debatable version of events :p)

Impossible to predict what decision is going to go wrong.

I'd like tubby Dowd again, although he was shocking last time he reffed us he did well last year at OT, particularly the Rio tackle on Suarez which was very good, although people screaming cheat at Suarez for going down by contact just because the ball was won.

I think Liverpool will win it.

United with a big cushion top of the league will start the game in cruise control, and Giggs and Scholes will probably start. Unless RVP can bail them out again that is...

Arsenal and City should be a good game as well. City have been poor lately and it will be especially funny if super Mario plays and Dzeko sits on the bench.
