Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14 - 15th December 2013]

Well that was grim - Santon being his usual terrible self, Remy squandering 2 of the simplest chances you'll ever see, and Pardew bringing on Cisse The Passenger when we're only 1 up.

So we're still boss then. Interesting run of fixtures for us. If we pick up decent points could be massive for motivation and confidence going into the second half of the season.

Everton are now 4 points off the top but have already played Utd, Arsenal and City away, Chelsea at home. they've still lost a single game, and that was away at City and they were probably the best team away at City, did the take the lead and had chances to get others and was that a game City had an offside goal or something, I can't remember. Either way Everton put on the best show at the Emirates, beat Utd, came closest to beating City. They are doing ridiculously well, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool have lost 3 games, City have lost 4, Everton have lost 1 and they've had one of the toughest fixture lists in terms of playing top 6 sides and City/Arsenal away which are probably their two toughest games of the season out of the way already.

Martinez is doing so damn well it's ridiculous... how much should Utd pay for Martinez in Jan? :p

I would have taken a point pre kick off but a but disappointed by the end. Worrying seeing Remy going out of form, we should really stick with 451 we look a lot slicker then.

Still need another striker.

I've always liked Martinez, seems like a genuinely nice guy in the interviews and he's quite humble with it as well. Wigan were absolute toilet and it's nice to see him with a decent-ish squad to work with.

refs over act more than the players, pathetic, you got a swipe to the face, at worst it may have stung, and you'd clutch it, not start flailing around on the floor.

You can present a turd as well as you like, at the end of the day, it stinks.

Frustrates me United never thought about going with him, someone creative, instead we've got a limp whiskey ****.

Been a huge Martinez fan for the last 3 or so years, i thought Everton were the perfect club for him as i thought a top team would be a bit soon for him. Looks like he can manage a top team right now he is doing a fantastic job at Everton.

United could do with Martinez but it would have been a gamble going for him with just Wigan experience really. I never fancied Moyes to do a top job at United. Most people knew he wouldn't do a top job though. If United finish 7th or lower i wonder if the Glazers will sack him?

Lucas in being full of **** shocker :D

Where have all these new 'football experts' that change their mind every 5 minutes come from?

Martinez was one of my favourites for the Utd job, but I just couldn't see Utd going for a non-British manager after Ferguson. Who knows whether that will have to change in the near future, but for now I think we are stuck with Moyes. I want to give him the chance to rebuild the team, but at the cost of us playing well below our standard, I'm not so sure. It really is a very testing time.
