Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14 - 15th December 2013]

Because of poor results, because he got another offer, or, West brom have been doing way way worse than last year? Swansea have Europe as an excuse, a genuine excuse, West brom have just been meh.

It's not like Swansea are miles ahead but, West Brom seem to be getting worse, I have no idea what he was thinking frankly, "I missed out on Lukaku again so I'll get........... Anichebe......." that is deserving of firing for gross misconduct to be honest.

Aside from strikers they do certainly look less good, but without a battering ram upfront they lack the guy they need to win games for them.

A lot of teams competing for relegation again this year.

EDIT:- west brom, 3 wins so far, 2 of which were Sunderland and Palace, that is the kind of thing you see in relegation teams. Obviously their only other win was against Utd...... poor moyes :p

It's a tough thing though, good results for Brom against Villa/Chelsea, then Newcastle/City games you wouldn't expect them to win on those teams current form, but two bad games puts them in bad form and they lose against Norwich and Cardiff, teams they really should have been competing better with, and getting at least some points.

I didn't see that coming. I have to admit that I didn't realise they were down in 16th but it appeared as if Clarke was putting together a more than handy side and I know they've been very unlucky in a few games with refereeing decisions directly costing them wins.

I'm not sure how much money WBA spent and what the club's expectations are but they're only 4 points off 10th (only 2 off 18 too) and their performances suggested to me that they'd end up closer to there than where they currently are. Not many teams of their size will win at OT and be very unlucky only to draw away at Chelsea and at home to Arsenal this season.

edit: Rodgers should bring him back to sort our defense out!

West Brom website is talking about 2013 performance as a whole. They got 33 points in the first half of last season and only 16 points in the second half of the season, the most points they can get first half of this season is now 24 if they win 3 on the trot which doesn't seem too likely.

He is scoring at a serious relegation fight rate in the past year so not entirely unfair he goes. They need someone half decent and to buy a real striker. Not sure why Long kept getting dropped by him, they need to play him more and get someone other than Anichebe in. Was it 6 or 8mil for him, Martinez is a magician for getting that much for him.

EDIT:-

Baz, they had a pretty much epic first half of last year which made the season look decent overall, but it's been almost a full year that he's been completely unable to turn it around now. 7 wins in the past 12 months it would seem, or in 2013, it really isn't good enough. He did have the entire summer to turn that around, buy the right players and basically failed to do so, and honestly Anichebe to replace Lukaku....... is almost unforgivable, even Welbeck would have been better :p

WBA have a Director of Football that handles their transfers so it's a bit unfair to blame Clarke for their signings.

Their results may not have been great but they're not exactly miles away from where they should be (should WBA be expecting more than 9th-13th?) and their performances have been far better than their results suggest. Shocking penalty decisions against Stoke (when they should have had a pen) and vs Chelsea directly cost them wins. Even vs Arsenal, where they were the better side and should have won regardless, they had a more than decent shout for a pen in the last minute too. Had they had just a bit more luck they'd be sitting comfortable in 10th right now.

Apparently the rumour is that he enquired about the Everton job privately in the summer and Albion got wind of it.

This says it all about Clarke getting sacked.

@SBerahino: Wow i cant believe it, thats ****ing ****!!!!
