Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14 - 15th December 2013]

Martinez was one of my favourites for the Utd job, but I just couldn't see Utd going for a non-British manager after Ferguson. Who knows whether that will have to change in the near future, but for now I think we are stuck with Moyes. I want to give him the chance to rebuild the team, but at the cost of us playing well below our standard, I'm not so sure. It really is a very testing time.

Below standard.

Many of the players that played so well last year are still there this year, so why should they be playing below standard? That should be the question. The manager can only do so much. The players should take 90% of the responsibility.

Yet if the player is well below what he was doing last year, why doesn't the manager drop them, ergo, actually it's the managers responsibility. Player X might be half as good as last year, but it's the manager who continues to start that player over and over and over again.

Can we not all just agree that Moyes is an over-rated PE teacher and Man Utd are finally the mid-table side they were destined to become?

Great to see Everton winning today despite having an absolutely atrocious first 30 minutes in the second half. Now if Spurs could be so kind as to beat Liverpool that will leave me happy for a week.

Am I not the only one who thought that yellow card for Sagbo was a bit harsh. He had his foot up yes, but he was still miles away from the keeper.

Another great chance for Elmo but the keeper was well positioned.

Sheeeezzzzzuusss.....that was close!

Stoke having some great chances at the moment. Offisde effort from Ireland and a header against the bar.

It's a combination of both the manager and the players, I feel. If they were managed better sure they could perform better, but also if the players aren't motivated to want to either, the manager is going to have a hard time as well. It's a vicious circle really.

Well not that i saw any of the match but saw what the final score was and wow we got absolutely tanked today..6-3 and that hurts. But saying that we havent been the only ones to get tanked by City this season, Spurs were spanked and Utd got beaten well and good by them earlier in the season.

From what i heard and read, seemed like our midfield was not existent like we were on Wed against Napoli. Kos ended up a nasty cut so thats ruled him out for a fair while i imagine. Also heard that Mert tore Ozil a new one for not going to the away fans and thanking them, found that hard to believe but saw a small clip of it and that is absolutely disgusting from him to do that. Hope he apologises for his lack of respect towards the fans after the welcome we have given him.

Anyhow i wasnt expecting us to lose that badly but we were due a tanking and we got it courtesy of City. I just hope we can bounce back from this and win our next game against Chelski but i imagine we will drop more points as well.

One good thing is that this has ripped the league wide open now.

As for City?? seems like all dat money they have spent is finally paying dividends off especially moreso with a competent manager in charge. Still have City as title favourites, they have a freaking good squad both offensively and defensively.

City cerainly deserved to win, but there were mistakes on both sides, to be fair. Toure got robbed in midfield for an Arsenal goals just like Wilshere got robbed for one of City's. In the end, City were just more clinical and got the rub of the green as far as refereeing decisions were concerned. Giroud had a few excellent chances, there were some dodgy offside decisions (including two that ruled out Arsenal goals), and the penalty was soft. On another day it could have been 6-6.
