Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14th - 17th September 2012]

I've never understood this argument. Why does it matter whether he has the ball under control or not (not saying he doesn't btw)? A trip is a trip whether you have the ball or not.

I'm genuinely not sure, if a striker puts a ball past the defender but he's not getting to the ball is it still a penalty? Or does that only matter in last man red card call situations? (as in denying a goalscoring chance)

And then how much contact does there have to be for a foul? Liverpool fans for example always go on about the one Berbatov won against you a few years ago, that had as much contact as this one really.

That passage of play sums up Downing. Had the chance to take on the fullback and whip in a cross but cut back and played the easy ball to Allen instead. Same move leads to Sterling getting the ball on the right who beats his man and gets in a cross that leads to the goal. We need two Sterlings and no Downings.

Screw you man :p.

Of course it's still a foul (and therefore a penalty) if you trip somebody regardless of whether they're going to get to the ball or keep the ball in play. A foul is a foul - whether it's simply a foul or a yellow or red card depends on whether they're going to keep the ball in play in a threatening attacking position (for a yellow) or a clear goalscoring opportunity (for a red card).

And no there wasn't :p

I'd happily **** Suarez off if I thought he made a meal of it, he's made that easy to do in his time over here. But his leg goes exactly in the direction I'd expect it to go if O'Shea isn't there to take it before it lands, for that reason I can't hold him at fault for this one.

Needless reaction Purdy. Yes, he's got history when it comes to his posts about Liverpool but that was pretty harmless. Come the end of the season he knows we'll be laughing last.

I love Suarez as much as the next man but my god, he was so frustrating today. He would constantly run, dribble into people, and is so laxy daisy on the pass. Not just today neither that passing, he has been giving it away every game so far! Sterling, what a player, what a bloody player! Would have liked to see Assaidi and Sahin today but ah wells, can't win them all! Felt we should have got all 3 points, and my 1-3 prediction should have came to fruition.

Ah well, onwards and upwards, Man U next!

Cheers Andy :)

Was only responding to his usual anti-liverpool garbage and telling him what he does politely. Seems I was not the one with 'so much rage.'

There will be times where he frustrates the life out of you but it's only because he tries these things that he creates the things he does. You've got to accept that there will be times when it doesn't come off but the times when out of nowhere, he's beaten his man and has created something from nothing, make it worth it.

At least I did, no-one seems to anymore. ;)
There's a lot of heads bashing against brick walls & much more genuine bigotry towards most teams and their supporters, shame.

Things actually seem slightly better than they've been 12-18 months previous. We were close to an uprising midway through last season. Certain incidents and topics are always going to be volatile though no matter what.

Was midway through last season around the time of the Suarez & Terry incidents?

So DecoySA makes a post stating a football fact followed by "teehee" and then gets a response telling him he's "talking crap since 2010" despite the fact what he wrote was a fact... and then he gets told off while the original guy who started the insults gets nothing ?

Haha, some seriously dodgy moderating going on here. Amusing nonetheless.

What I wrote was fact, it is pretty in your face all he posts is largely anti-Liverpool.

He actually insulted me, I merely made an observation on his posting.

Quite odd, just hit back a few pages, noticed around Andy's post you weren't actually viewing the board.

Probably about then, yes but it was more than just that. We had constant whining and complaining, accusations of trolling left, right and centre and questioning of everything the mods done.

People obviously don't respect Andy as much as they did you ;)

Decoy has a history of posting things with the sole reason to wind Liverpool fans up. He's been suspended previously for it.

And some might say that saying he spoke crap was as factual as saying it's Liverpool's worst start to the season in however many years.
