F5ing DecoySA profile for mission complete, is the hammer coming?
Great managers don't always succeed at every club, a lot of very talented managers have faith in Rodgers and Swansea was a success, he is also older now than he was then considering he is already a very young manager.
I do agree though, a great manager will change the style to suit the opposition, unless your team is good enough that you don't need to (Pep@Barca.), but we saw Rafa do it many a time, we will see if Rodgers can do it he is still very young in his managerial career.
Also I'm pretty sure Rafa got sacked in the 90's before joining Valencia, so I'm not sure you can make a judgement on him based soloely on his time with you.
Also the striker thing no one knows who to blame outside Rodgers/Owners, I'm sure he let him go with knowledge that Dempsey was guaranteed, seems someone ****ed up along the way.
It was Ayre was it not? He got a grilling apparently the next day from Rodgers and FSG demanded that they're meeting was made into a conference call with them as well. Ayre messed it up.

Papa you're probably correct. Wasn't most of the good work at Swansea done by Martinez before he left anyway?

Regardless of that fact, Rodgers is the manager. It is his job alone to manage the squad. He has left himself short up front to what can only be described as incompetence. These things should never happen if you are a good manager.
He should have done the maximum possible to secure Owen as soon as he knew he didn't have any new strikers coming in.

Hypothetically, if a manager has agreed to let a player go on the proviso that a replacement is brought in, he can't really be help responsible for being left short.

But then surely you would wait until the new player had signed before letting the other go? It is quite possible that he was duped or misled, but ultimately the responsibility of the squad is his. Dempsey left Fulham in the end anyway, so he was leaving Fulham. Why did Rodgers not have more to do with signing him?
It just sounds to me that he requested him, then let others try and sort it out, which failed. No man management.
I understand why he'd be the last player Liverpool would want, but he's still a proven PL striker. The professional thing to do would have been getting him signed just in case.
Last choice is better than no choice.

He's damaged goods and would've taken up valuable space on the medical table.I understand why he'd be the last player Liverpool would want, but he's still a proven PL striker.
It looks like you're searching for reasons to criticise Rodgers.
