Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16 - 21st August 2013]

Considering the status of Arsenal's closed season, their lack of movement in the transfer market and the lack of strengthening of the squad, you would have thought that the management and squad were out to really prove they are capable. The total opposite looks to be happening .

If you want to know why were weren't optimistic because we beat a few teams not trying at the end of last season, this is why.
Rosicky is crap, Walcott is crap, AOC is fairly crap(with his potential not actually changing into real performances so in 2 years), Gibbs is a sicknote, Koscielny and Mert are error prone morons, our keeper is constantly exposed as being a bit crap when its important, Ramsey isn't really a footballer, Wilshire is no where near form, we have ZERO cover in defence, we have no real quality reserves.

Podoski and Santi should have started, we wanted a big strong start to the game, and season and playing our best players would do that, playing Rosicky, Ramsey, AOC well, hasn't done that.

Guzan

Rosicky looking brilliant today.

He's had 2-3 real chances to score and fluffed them all 1 of them really quite easy which he missed by a mile. Villa's defence is shoddy and we'll get players through, we needed him to finish and he's not looked close to being able to, he's also done little defensively and not imposed himself on the Villa midfield/defence at all. Couple flashy runs with no end product doesn't make a good performance.

Is it too early to ask for wenger to be sacked?

:D :) ****ing joke arsenal are. 2:1 loss so far. nice one Wenger.

Loving our squad right now. Made some amazing buys during the transfer window.

Huguian and Suarez linking up well for us.

o wait....

Going forward he's done everything well apart from finish, he just set up another chance too. He's currently one of the few players driving us forward with any real purpose.

The last few games when we've taken the lead at the Emirates, Arsenal have scored late. 87th min this time?

The flow is already broken when there's a properly debatable, contentious moment. Be it a goal, or a crazy tackle, or a disallowed goal, etc. It's laughable to suggest there's some magical flow to football, when in reality there's a significant length of time lost/wasted in every game.

The ball's only in play two thirds of the time!

Awesome. You're perfectly entitled to disagree with me, but this is not something I will budge on.

You'd be adding to that with stopping the game for decisions, decisions that are not clear cut and will take time and debate to sort out. You only have to watch or read analysis post game or listening during the game when they have replay after replay and people still are divided. Decisions in football aren't black and white and technology will not fix that. The referee on the pitch should be trusted, hell, it's worked pretty well up until now.

Football should be working towards getting more football played, not having more stoppages in play.

As for my criticism of Hawkeye, go find some stats about how many goal line decisions referee's actually got wrong last season.
