Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16 - 21st August 2013]

Uh oh, Giggs!

Please tell me that is a prank lineup :(

Zaha has a great pre season, Valencia barely plays and looks **** in the charity shield....so Valencia starts?!?

Wait, this explains it:

Moyes reveals Sir Alex chats

United manager David Moyes has revealed that he has met with Sir Alex Ferguson several times as he continues to plot the future at Old Trafford.

As the new boss prepares for the start of the Barclays Premier League title defence at Swansea City, he has sought counsel with his predecessor and wants him to continue having an input into the new regime.

Hmmm, Arsenal's defence..... where precisely was it exactly?

Not a single player back in our half, utterly pathetic, well done Wenger, as usually everything you can really get wrong you have done.

Get rid of all the potentially good youngsters over the past 4 years, keep the rubbish ones for too long. Get rid of all the reserve players BEFORE getting any replacements, leave the squad thin, refuse to ditch the first team members who aren't good enough, don't start our best players, start your favourites who are actually completely rubbish like Ramsey. Wilshire didn't look ready in preseason and hasn't looked ready today.

No, because a lot of the time play has stopped anyway.

The fact that people don't always agree in post match commentary, be it written or in studios does not mean there isn't a clear position which can be taken - a lot of the time people say stuff for the sake of argument, to make the shows more interesting for viewers, and so forth. Pundits wouldn't have jobs if they all agreed.

You don't have to have technology for all decisions... just ones where it's relatively simple. Eg. goal line technology works, even if the vast majority of the time it wouldn't affect decisions - it's there to eradicate absolute howlers, which although are rare you may as well fix if it's easily done. You could have them for offside decisions, for example - eg. if there's a goal, the third official (or a forth) could quickly check it was onside as they're getting the ball back to kick off again, etc (like they do in cricket, where if a batsman is given out, they quickly check there wasn't a no ball when he's walking off)... that wouldn't ruin any kind of flow, as it'd just be done in 'dead time'.

Working well in cricket isn't it? :p.

No, sorry, off side decisions and goal line, make sense, but I'm against on the principle of if it's used for that it should be used for everything, which is where the debate will move to.

You're welcome as anyone is to disagree, but I'm against technology in football.

Probably because Zaha had the England bits.

It's an understandable line up considering who's fit and who isn't. Not really many other options.
