Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 21st January 2015]

1-2. Elia on the counter again. We've had enough of the ball but can't get through. Could do with bringing Riviere on to give us a bit more presence up top.

EDIT: Here comes Riviere.

Chris Foy was an absolute joke at Spurs v Sunderland today. One of the most baffling refereeing performances I've seen in a long time. It's a good thing that neither Spurs nor Sunderland gave him much to get wrong!

Yet another blatant handball we've committed and got away with :/

As much as it's nice to win, it feels cheap when another blatant decision has helped

Good comeback from Palace, that second Burnley goal was ridiculous, if it went out or not I'm not quite sure but the ridiculously obvious shove should have stopped play regardless, he just grabbed the player first pulled him then shoved him over and out of the way.

That Burnley could stay up is a really terrible statement about Hull, QPR and Leicester, the first two of which have spent loads in general. Leicester as I understand it took huge losses last year I presume in attempting to get promoted. ANyone know what Burnley have done recently, did they spend a crapload to get promoted or quite frugal?

looked it up, roughly speaking Burnley spent about 10mil, Leicester 11 mil, QPR 35mil, Hull 38mil... really.... lololololol. QPR have shocking wage bill though compared to most of the league let alone those other guys. Leicester spent more than Burnley in the past couple of seasons, not sure why their losses were so high last year.

EDIT:- that was a lovely freekick from Larsson. Not a clue how he's at Sunderland, he'd make a strong starting player for anyone up to 7th-8th and solid rotation player if not starter for the likes of Everton, Spurs, those going for europa league spots. Versatile, brilliant delivery, hard working, not at all bad defensively and good going forward. Just never been part of a great team to really shine.

Yay, back 4

It's been obvious since the start. We'd have more points than we do right now had we been playing a back 4 since. LVG just needs to accept TRM was right on this one, swallow it and move on.

And even though we won lvg still tried to deny the validity of a back 4..

I know in advance that when we play with four midfielders in a diamond that we create more chances, but then the balance of the team is also weak,' said Van Gaal.

'And you've seen it because we had created chances but so had QPR.

'We have to decide every week how we have to play. And that's the question.'

Maybe he has a mental blackout of the first half and practically all of our games this season or maybe he's just insane i don't know.

Swansea made some awful mistakes granted but that first half from Chelsea yesterday was stunning, they would've beaten anyone on that form.

Mostly a case of West Ham playing garbage in the first half than Hull looking good. They still did very little despite having quite a bit of the ball because they just had no real quality. West Ham now playing a bit better and Hull aren't looking at all good as a result.

I can't believe someone backed Bruce with 38mil in spending. The guy who every time he gets in the prem looks worse and worse till he destroys a team. He can make a hard grafting championship side but a creative and attacking solid premiership side is well beyond his capability as a manager. The run he was on at Sunderland before being fired was horrendous and on a similar run throughout all of 2014 with Hull. But because nothing he did made him look worth backing I can't believe he spent almost 40mil(well above it with agents fees, must be). Owners are mental, with that money I'd have fired bruce, brought in someone competent and given them 30mil.
