Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 22nd August 2011]

I thought Jenkinson looked very poor in midweek, but hopefully that was just down to nerves. Getting chucked in at the deep end like that, and being hassled by a striker as good as Di Natale won't have helped.

Doesn't look *that* weak. Obviously Jenkinson is really raw but I fancy him to make much more of an impact than Gibbs who can't even stay fit for two first team games. I hope Frimpong keeps his cool and doesn't get a stupid card.

That's very weak imo, 3 players who have never played in the league, in fact, never really played in any kind of pressure situation, and we're already having to play them in the second week of the season, imagine in March when we have 12 injuries. Our squad is poor.

Jenkinson looked good in pre-season but as Weebull said, a little dodgy the other night. Let's put it this way, is he ready to start a game vs Liverpool in the Premier League .. no.

He was out of position and nervous, but he improved vastly over the course of the half, he made a bunch of early errors but made some very good tackles later on in the half and preseason, frankly he looks better than Sagna.

The stupid thing is Sagna has played left back for us, it wasn't his first real game for the club nor in Europe, mental to put Jenkinson on the left and leave Sagna on the right, but he did cope well. He does look promising.

Ryo has almost no chance of starting, I'd say he's quite easily our best actual "winger". Pace, can go around people, can cut in and pick out a quality pass, cross, or shoot but can also unlike almost everyone at Arsenal, get to the byline and whip in a nice cross aswell.

I think theres a very good chance Wenger will start Nasri, hopefully not in the middle because he's been woeful there and the team simply doesn't work well with him as he's got zero discipline and is selfish as hell, two things that basically rule you out in the middle.

Sagna, Kos, Verm, Jenks

Ideally we should already have a first choice left back and then there's no need to start Jenkinson in such an important fixture but never mind eh. Not sure if Frimpong is going to produce the goods or not, so far all I've seen is Song-lite which isn't particularly good whichever way you look at it. Wenger needs to splash the cash if we are to have any chance of competing for honours this season.

Weird Premier League schedule tomorrow, how am I supposed to watch Football Focus when Sunderland - Newcastle is on... oh wait it's the worst derby going, disaster averted.

I really want Arsenal to win tomorrow, reasons are as follows.

1) I want Liverpool to lose, simples.
2) It'll be funny
3) More ammo for Wenger to go crazy over
4) Arsenal will have an average age of 14 and a squad vaule of £6.57 and a squashed rolo, Liverpool's something stupid like £783 million.
5) It'll shut up Liverpool fans about their amazing midfield and ****ing Carroll.

45 minutes of Football Focus and then the fun begins!

Arsenal may be without a whole host of players but they need not worry - tomorrow's ref? Martin Atkinson, the worlds biggest homer who has ****ed us over countless times over the last couple of seasons.

;)

He is in pretty strong competition with Webb, although maybe he is a homer in favour of some teams more than others.

Never mind we haven't won at the emirates, expecting a draw or loss.

I like you. :p

Liverpool fans are getting the excuses prepared already I see. Ready for the Walcott hat-trick. :p

If your team fails, blame the ref.

For the worlds biggest homer i suggest you check out his stats for LFC games at anfield.
Not starting a conspiracy theory (because you'l react again ;) ) but its interesting reading and not great for LFC fans.
