Why is it a bizarre statement? Gustov's reasoning for Newcastle never being a big club was their trophy haul and of the only 2 trophies of any note that either club have won, Chelsea's record is the same as Newcastle's.
Imo, to be a big club you've got to have won the European Cup or at least won the league a lot more than 4 times.
Liverpool and United are the only 2 genuine 'big' clubs in the EPL. No doubt that Arsenal and Chelsea are the two other clubs who would be up for consideration.
It's about relative history. So you won the league 80 years ago, doesn't make you a big club. Being the top 6 for the past 5-10 years, does. You just have to look at Newcastle's recent history to realise they're a, if they're lucky, middle-table nobody team that occasionally shows some good players.
No point telling you as you already know.
Winning the league 4 times and finishing runners up 4 times is something Newcastle haven't come close to doing in over 80 years.
I'm not defending him. I just found your reasoning funny as I don't think you realised you were (by your own reasoning) also proving Chelsea have never been a big club.
I think Forest and Villa fans might object to that. Heck, even Spurs have been more successful in Europe than either Arsenal or Chelsea.
Heck, even Spurs have been more successful in Europe than either Arsenal or Chelsea.
Well you're wrong because I never said Chelsea are a big club.
there's no argument that Chelsea are a big club.
Shame we couldn't grab Long. Such a good buy.
Can see West Brom doing well this season.
And I never claimed that you claimed they were. As I said, I suspect you didn't realise that what you were saying also applied to Chelsea.
Ridiculous quotation. I was clearly talking with regards to perspective and todays climate juxtaposed to previous honors. Stop being a tool and trying to bait me.

Bait you? You're just confusing me with who is a big club and what makes them a big club. Surely that's understandable when one sentence you deny claiming Chelsea are a big club and then you say they are in the very next?
"Big club" arguments are so lol... they're just cripple fights with people spazzing out over their positions. You get "big clubs" through history, and you get "big clubs" through recent success. I'm not saying either's the better position, just that when you have two definitions, it's a pointless argument!
Newcastle have never been a big club because they've only won 4 League titles and 6 FA Cups. Who wants to remind Gustov how many times Chelsea have won the League and FA Cup?![]()
