Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 22nd August 2011]

To be fair I've always praised Kuyt for his work rate and effort, he's a fantastic athlete, but his limitations as a footballer have always been the problem. He should be one of the first names on the team sheet against the very best teams, because he'll always pressure defenders in to making mistakes, but an unused sub against the rest.

Funnily enough I think the opposite is true of Adams. He looks very good on the ball when given time but when pressurised his game falls to pieces. He'll be a very valuable player against the lesser teams but he shouldn't get anywhere near the team against the very best until we see a drastic improvement in his ability to retain possession as well as his fitness levels.

I think you're going ott but I agree in principle. Had we been up against an Arsenal side with Fabregas and Wilshere in midfield, I'd have worried about Adam being in a 2 man midfield. However saying that, he put in 2 excellent performances vs Utd last season and against ourselves too. He does need to improve his fitness levels though or become more economical with his energy.

As for Kuyt; he's far from the easiest player on the eye but generally he's effective and as you say, his work rate (and knack of scoring important goals) makes him invaluable against better sides. His problem is that when he has a bad day, he looks dreadful.

What I will say for both Adam and Kuyt though is that no matter how they or the team as a whole are playing, they'll never let the game pass them by, which is something that the likes of Maxi, Meireles and Aquilani can do at times.

ahh been a good day! Beach, wine, beer, and get back in from a nice meal out to find we beat arsenal :) Found a few clips of the goals, apart from them how was the game?

Hmmm found a stream of Chelsea .. bed or watch it???

Someone go to Stamford bridge and tell the Chelsea fans that you can actually sing and cheer at football matches!

When you can hear people on TV having conversations with there mates its a worrying sign.

They were pretty loud at stoke last week.

How long will it be until arsenal actually have no defenders? It's just comical how this happens.

Chelsea needed to invest heavily in the summer after a disappointing season last year and they haven't. Their two best players over the last 5 years (Drogba and Lampard) are both 33 and need replacing now. If Torres comes good he'll obviously be a fantastic long term replacement for Drogba but who's going to replace Lampard? Modric? :o

Not impressed with AVBs chelsea. Too early to judge him but meh anyway.

Looks like all 3 top London clubs could suffer defeat this weekend.

It's not AVB's Chelsea though is it, there are still players there from when Mourinho when is charge.

The players that are there just don't suit his system and I think he may have been constrained a bit when it comes to transfers and changing things. Especially if they're not able to ship out the dead wood.

I think we're seeing Torres finally come back to form, but he's going to be limited by the rest of the squad. If he's not getting the delivery and the plays, he's not going to score. That's the kind of player he is.

Our home fans are ****

About 10 x louder than Arsenal's though.

I have NO idea why Kalou and Anelka play for Chelsea. Both an absolute waste of space. Kalou has probably cost me a year of my life thanks to the stress he has caused.

HAHAHAAHAHAAAHAHHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA

Bragging rights once again! SMB's all storming out the pubs once the realised their team was ****, sometyhing we knew for years.

We might never be a top club again but it is always fun putting one over the SMB's :D:D:D:D:D:D wel deserved! and if Howard Pleb had not missed a blatant penalty it would have been even more clear!

LOVE ITTTT!!!!!! :D:D:D:D
