Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 22nd August 2011]

And what about when they play Utd in the CS and away to Bolton?

As I said, the point was pointless but I'm not sure how you can be confused with the explanation.

I'm not confused with the explanation, but it is stating the bleeding obvious. If Tevez isn't playing then other people will step in to his role and score. With Mancini usually just playing one striker then there are limited opportunities for the other forwards to score goals since Tevez plays as long as he is fit (at least prior to the latest transfer request). Yes, Barry, Lescott and Silva have popped up with some goals this season, but the other goals have been scored by the strikers who have stepped in for Tevez which is surely not a surprise?

That's his point. How many people claimed that City are/were a 1 man team and without Tevez they're nothing etc etc etc? Tevez hasn't played but others have stepped up (whether they're strikers or otherwise) and are showing they don't rely on him.

It's far too early to say that of course but that's what he's trying to claim.

edit: and why are we debating such a boring and pointless post? :o

Leeds unlucky to not take 3 points today.

Certainly taking away the vastly improved performance as a major positive even if we did miss out on 3 points. Sooooo glad connolly isn't on the pitch anymore, and for long may that be the case!!

Indeed. Happy how we played, still need to tighten up the defence but attacking isn't an issue. Still want a CB and a LB. Maybe a striker but happy with Keogh and Ross is looking very good. Clayton has been a revelation, Bates will be thinking about cashing in on him :(

Anyone know why no previews for tomorrow night's match vs Spurs arent including Fabio in the initial line up?

Every single time I would go for:

Evra - Smalling - Jones - Fabio

over

Evra - Evans - Jones - Smalling

Even taking into consideration Nani on the right (who seems to be getting a lot better defensively than he has been historically)

edit - and no , as far as I can tell Fabio is fighting fit

How has a centre back thrown into full back suddenly pushed ahead of Fabio

I would have thought with Neville, Brown and O'Shea out of the way the samba twins would finally get a starting place at right back!

Smalling will be playing for his height. The twins are like glass as well so I suspect we will be keeping Fabio safe for a bit due to our injuries at the moment. The back four was confirmed in the press conference.
