Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [17th - 19th September 2011]

Also recently he's been significantly more right than wrong...

I still think Nasri is a good player though ;)

(prepares for DM's tirade...)

Considering the tone he takes with anyone that dares to disagree with him, I'd say DM can take being called an idiot. Or at least he should be able to.

Well it wont make the team better off or Mancini would have done it. YOU might think it will. Mancini who is paid to choose the team does not. Who is right?

Not aiming it at you but I always find it amusing when people say this. If this was the case hardly any managers would get the sack.

DM isn't that bad, people just jump on and hate at him 'cause he posts a lot.

He does quite often have very good points, but it's in a lot of ranting, and if anyone dares to disagree with anything he says, he tries to blind them with "facts".

Then there is also the problem with him being quick to call someone an idiot if they disagree with him, makes it harder for people to want to agree with him.

That's not the case at all, any manager I'd wager knows a lot more about the game than a keyboard warrior. Fair enough giving an opinion on what you think might work but when they suggest they know better than a paid football manager it's just epic lol's.

Not aiming that at DM as I totally skipped his argument with Biz :p

Just for the sake of pointing it out, I've never once come close to saying Nasri is a bad player(nor Eboue is the best player ever), I just said, we pay Cesc 110k a week, RVP less than that, 11 goals isn't a great return for a selfish guy who offered nothing else and offering him 110k a week to stay FOR ARSENAL is incredibly bad value. He's looked okay at City so far, but I wouldn't say great, he had a great start, many many players do but then dissappear later on, it also helped how good City are and who they played, IE all out attack against crap teams. Its when the chips were down and we needed guys to step up, he didn't once last season.

He's a decent player, even good, with a team of excellent players around him he'll get a few goals and a few assists. The question is how will he look in half a season when "new player form" has gone and he's up against a tough team, he'll probably look better than he did for Arsenal because he's in a better team, still not worth 110k a week, let alone whatever stupid wage City are paying him.

What actively makes a paid football manager unable to make a mistake, is this proven by the total lack of mistakes paid football managers make? Did a patent clerk have better idea's than paid scientists.

I wouldn't know where to start in the offical day to day business of running a club, I would think many managers don't these days with their executive guys above them doing much of the work that managers at lower clubs do themselves. That doesn't automatically mean my opinion of a player is invalid, nor that I can't be wrong, nor that a paid manager can't be wrong.

I know you weren't aiming it at me but, and its not just football, this acceptance that because someone chose one profession over another, everyone elses opinion/knowledge couldn't possibly compare, its completely illogical. factor in ALL manager who were ever paid to do a job, all of them instantly know more and are incapable of making mistakes?

AVB on Sky saying Chelsea were the better team last weekend, that despite the fact that even had every clear cut chance in the game been taken United still would have won. Hopefully Roman gets rid of this one even quicker than he has his predecessors.

This will probably get dismissed because it's me saying it, but Chelsea were the better team. Certainly in the first half.

No you're right, doubt many people will argue with too much. We were stronger second half I think but in the first they had a worrying amount of possession in our third.

I'd argue with it :p

The half that we scored 3 times and they were the better side? Not to mention the only time they did anything threatening with the possession they had was the Ramires one at 1-1. They were far more threatening second half obviously scoring and Torres going round the keeper to claim the miss of the season award (even that half though we had the same amount of sitters as them)
