I do like Alan Pardew. Strikes me as a genuine guy and a very good manager too.

Strikes me as a smug git that needs a slap, hate that stupid extended slow motion celebration he does as well :p

Credit where's it's due though he's made Newcastle the 5th best side in the league (who knows they might even be better than Arsenal and Chelsea now)

Arsenal are pretty much unrecognisable these days, cant help but feel a little bad for the Arsenal supporters :(

They really need to get another two or three top players in. The Sahin loan deal appears to be done and they have an option to buy, so that's good for them.

I'm sure Wenger will get them playing some good stuff before long, but if they don't add to the squad they'll find themselves stretched, especially if they suffer any injuries.

I know they don't like spending much money but it's about time they appeased the fans a bit and accepted that to win things, they'll need to spend.

Nice to see people writing all the teams off of doing anything, and seeing all the doom and gloom again. I was struggling to cope without it.

Arsenal are useless, Arsene Wenger doesn't know what he's doing, he's ruined Arsenal, maybe even football altogether! Podolski can't play football, Giroud needs to get away from the club, he's a pathetic excuse of a footballer.

Main problem today was creativity in the final third and a general lack of shape/movement. Carzorla looks decent thus far but we missed RvPs movement up front. I'd like to see Arshavin get a start maybe as potentially he could add the missing ingredient.

At the other end of the pitch it was difficult to judge as Sunderland offered next to nothing going forwards, it was one of those frustrating afternoons where we dominated the play without creating that many genuine chances. Ref didn't help matters and was generally poor typically favouring the away side, he should stick to cycling.

Bit of a worry with Giroud missing he best chance, in terms of how long it will take before he scores his first goal. If say his next 5 appeareances are off the bench and he misses one or two it could start to become an issue in terms of psychology and crowd feelings. Too early to judge but unlike Chamakh two years ago he may not benefit from a run of starts.

Most people probably didn't even watch the game. :p

What my original point was referring to is how there's barely anyone left from the 2008 squad that pushed us close for the title never mind the Invincible of 2003. Conversely you look at the likes of us and Chelsea and both still have mainstays of those teams in the squad even today.

I'm not saying Wenger cant go and build a new team out of the likes of Giroud, Carzola & Podolski but still not nice to see how their squad has been gutted in recent years. Wouldn't surprise me if Sagna goes this time next year just to complete the exodus.

bit gutted about the spurs game but we did ok considering the circumstances.

don't understand why livermore and gallas were picked but we seemed to hold our shape for the majority but did lose it for a short while. a quality finish and a penalty isn't too hard to take on board.

i hope levy now gets atleast 2 transfers in as we really need them.

I feel sorry for all thr Arsenal fans i saw today with RVP and Song on their new shirts .

Girl in the row in front had Written "Wilshere" on a piece of card and taped it over Van Persie on her #10 shirt :)

It has been a long held argument from me that Wenger broke up the 2002-4 side quicker than any title-winning side I've ever seen. 5 years after going the whole season unbeaten the only player left was Clichy who played about 12 games as a teenager. It is difficult to think of ANY top flight team being dismantled so thoroughly, so completely, never mind a title winner or unbeaten side. Heck even after their spending spree MC still have the likes of Hart and Richards in their squad.

He has a vision of a team being able to develop from young players indoctrinated into a certain style of play but the trouble is the inexperience was exposed at times and then players get restless and angling for a move. In theory the likes of Clichy, Nasri, Fabregas, RvP, Toure should have matured at the club and be the nucleus of the current setup (albeit Toure probably wouldn't be in the team anymore). However there wasn't enough transition given that Henry, Vieira, Campbell, Gilberto, Pires etc were moved on perhaps a little too soon.

I watched some highlights on YT the other day of Everton getting mauled 7-0 and it was quite depressing, Arsenal didn't even bother bringing Henry on until the second half and defenders were literally [(c) Redknapp] crapping their pants as he was motoring towards them. I don't seem to see that kind of fear in the opposition eyes anymore.

Spurs started exactly where they left off. Slightly clueless with hints of knowing how to counter attack.

AVB ignoring Thud worries me. Brining Siggy off and VdV on looked weird when we were losing and had no options left after conceding again. We also ignored Bentley and Dos Santos; when we conceded for the second time our only option was Kane, who I am reliably informed from a Milwall fan is absolutely mid tier Championship level and no higher.
Seeing Petric and Michu adds to the despondency. These were available for peanuts. We should have taken a punt just to give us some options. We have lost Kranky, Pav, Pienaar, Crouch, Saha, Modric, Adebayor and replaced them with Siggy (let's ignore the defensive side of things).

Tottenham of the past was filled with guff players; to remedy this we sold the semi guff players and kept the REALLY guff players like Jenas and Bentley.

We looked solid defensively bar a really great strike and some terrible defending from two attackers for the penalty. The ongoing problem of the second half of last season is still there- we have lost our way when it comes to attacking. Part of this may be remedied with a good striker and a midfielder with some creativity. Siggy seems like he is great at arriving in the box and keeping play ticking over but he will not orchestrate things.

VdV looked really creative when he came on- I would love to play him as a CM to help set up play but I just dont think he has the fitness (though he evidently has the desire).

I am worried- I dont see anything new or exciting about Spurs from that match. Maybe it will improve after the transfer window closes but YET AGAIN we have put 6 points in jeopardy because of f*kn Modric.
