Hasn't cleared yet, if it does in the next few minutes I am tempted to stick it all on Reading at 3/1
Lucky escape for me there. I was seduced by the odds. Didn't do it in the end though

I think some people have forgotten "the old Fernando Torres". They eulogise as if he was the most perfect, complete striker to ever play football. He did have errors in his game back then, some of which remain: most noticeably the fact that the ball will often bounce up off him or a one-touch pass will go the opposite direction he was intending. He also didn't score every time he touched the ball in the box, as he is expected to at Chelsea.
Tonight he had a couple of great chances blocked (one of which he beat three players on his own), a wide header he maybe should've done better with (though not a nailed-on chance), and the few mis-controls / misplaced passes he has always had. It wasn't a great performance, but it certainly wasn't a bad one. I think the difference between Chelsea and Liverpool for Torres has always been that his team-mates don't look for him every time they have the ball. Ramires, Mata, Lampard, Hazard, Sturridge and Oscar all had shots on goal tonight while Torres was in space.
This isn't to argue he is as good as he was but with the circumstances against him. I'm just saying that it's a different situation now for him, and he's changed a lot both physically and mentally, so it seems unfair to constantly compare the current Torres to the old one... especially since the way people go on about the Liverpool years, they are some unattainable level of God-like play. It'd be much fairer to compare him to a similar style of player currently playing today (Cavani), and see how much better or worse he would do in Torres' place. And Chelsea definitely need another striker, whether it be Cavani, Hulk, Schurrle, Moses or even somebody promoted from the reserves - a long term injury to Torres and they're relying entirely on Sturridge.
To be fair to Torres he has only started 44 competitive games at Chelsea but even so his record there doesn't justify the pricetag.

Hazard is somethin else. Buy of the season so far by miles.
Ah sorry, forgot about Van Persie.![]()

That depends on the defensive midfielder you're talking about though, they aren't all good in the air.
I think Phil Jones could have helped stop him, he's a fairly big lad. Someone like Khedira would be ideal.
Yeah I think we can say for certain after 1/2 games that Kagawa is average at best next to the godlike Hazard.
