Also ran in the transfer race by any chance? I.e he wasn't the best attacking midfielder purchased this summer.

And you come to that conclusion after 1 away game at Everton v 2 games against relegation fodder?

Of course you have after all after 1 game following last January's transfer window you said Wenger bringing in Henry was a better bit of business than United bringing back Scholes :o

For some reason quoting isn't working on my phone. I said last year we didn't need a young and inexperienced keeper and i think its fair to say that de geas early mistakes were material in us dropping points and thus contributed heavily to us losing the league.

But then at least i have an opinion. I could sit on the fence and say jury's out but where is the fun in that? We've seen hazard now pre season and in the league. He does look a player.

I swear that the majority of United fans either want us to sign Messi or to sign a 'Scott Parker' with his 'bravery and crunching challenges' in the middle of the park and until that point any signing we make will be absolutely ****.

I can't take it. It's making me want to support Everton or someone because any spending gets that clubs fans happy.

That bit is true of most clubs. It gets worse when you sign the Scott Parker type who then becomes a cult hero for getting other players injured and a worrying number of yellow/red cards because his entire game is running about a lot and hurting people (Richard Chaplow is the worst at this).

Some times the average football fan is just annoying.

When we stop playing long ball and a crossing game with a striker under 6ft and a midfield that can control a game, not get played out of the game.

Van Persie, Welbeck & Berbatov are all over 6ft just so you know.

Does our midfield having more possession count as controlling the game?

If so we're then all the way there to having you stop posting!

;)

Wait what, so we ARE talking about a single game now, or are we not? please decide...

Van persie didnt start, Welbeck isnt any good in the air at all. Berbatov doesnt even play for us, in the sense that, well he never plays. If we ever play rooney up front on his own (we do and often) then it just redacts your point as well. i could have thrown in the caveats that for us to play like that we should also have... umm.. wingers who can cross a ball. Clearly we are lacking in that aspect as well which accentuates the problem.

No our midfield having possession doesnt mean we controlled the game. If we had controlled the game, im not sure they would have scored, hit the bar, (did felani also hit the post on the short side i cant remember).

Possession is only one metric of control. Chances, shots on target, goals, etc are other metrics where we didnt do too well. Given that their midfielder scored, and dominated the game himself i think you'd be hard pressed to say that anything was under control. Think about what areas of the pitch we had control and at what time frame of the match we had any control.

And im not just talking about the everton game. I know it must seem like forever ago and you might have convinced yourself it didnt happen, but didnt we get handled by AJAX @ OT, and then also by Bilbao @ OT and away?

I remember the most embarrassing one when Blackpool dominated us as well at least for 45 minutes.

I merely answered what you said would cause you to stop posting, which was, in case you have forgotten:

When are you going to stop speaking The_Running_Man?

When we stop playing long ball and a crossing game with a striker under 6ft and a midfield that can control a game, not get played out of the game.

I told you that we have strikers that are over 6ft.

I then asked if having more possession counts as controlling the game, and, if so, then we're all the way there and you can stop posting.

Please don't kid yourself into thinking I care about what you post, I didn't actually want to have a discussion with you about football because it's a waste of time, I just wanted to point out that we have at least half of what is required for you to no longer post.

The arguments about Manchester United on here are so boring. Both sides raise some good points though. On Monday United were awful. They had loads of possession but I wouldn't say they controlled the game. They created virtually nothing and deserved to lose. Our wingers have been poor at crossing. Nani has always been awful, but Young and especially Valencia are usually much better. I think a few players will get sharper as the season goes on, and the team will learn to play together. The best thing they can do is get the ball to Kagawa as much as possible. He was genuinely brilliant the other night. I can't remember a time where he gave the ball away. He did loads of lovely touches and flicks that Rooney and co were completely oblivious too. Give it time though and things will improve. There's still 37 games to come and anything can happen.

You do know Nick you're the sole reason why we're even talking about Man Utd? As per usual if you weren't here no one would be saying a damn word
