Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [18th - 21st January 2014]

Sigh. How did he blag that.

Such a blatant dive and it's the ultimate Gerrard style dive if you ask me. Watch his left leg, it's what makes it so obvious and the particular style Gerrard has adopted for donkeys years. There is absolutely nothing stopping him planting his left foot past the keeper, but just before he plants it, he picks his own leg up and just lets himself go down.

The "non dive" version of that he would plant his left foot and if there was contact on his right foot it would spin him around. Sorry but a clip(if there was any) on his right foot doesn't make you pick up your own left foot like that. Anyone goes down if they just decide to stop running and that is what Suarez has done there.

Whilst I don't think Villa are that **** I've just noticed that although they're in 10th they're only 6 points off relegation.
It's scary down there this season:eek:

People have been saying this for months and I have no idea why, Swansea ahead on goal difference in 9th place with 46 points finished last season 10 points above relegation, year before West brom in 10th were 11 points above relegation, year before Fulham in 8th place were 10 points above relegation. Have to go back 4 seasons to get to a 20 point gap between 10th and 18th, that year had a particularly low points return for Burnley, and 14th was only 9 points ahead.

Another year back and Wigan were 11th and 11 points above relegation. It's basically normal for the bottom half of the table to be very close to midtable. So with 8-15 points being the general range in gap between 18th and 11th, with it probably averaging 10-11 points, is a 6 point gap just after the half way point close at all? Basically not at all, it's like this most seasons.

A 10-11 point gap over a team with 30-35 points isn't insignificant, its a 1/3 more points pretty much.

Joe Hart beaten at his near post again. What happened to the keeper who looked at one point like he was destined to be one of the best? :(

Wasn't helped by his defence at all to be fair, it was a good goal.

City fans seem normalized by these scorelines at home. A light clap will suffice.

Exactly. People seem to think that contact = foul and that if there is contact it can't be a dive which is completely untrue, as you've explained above. His left leg looks like it hit an invisible wall, it's so obvious it's embarrassing to see people defend it.

Who was that Villa player rolling round like he was shot until he realised everyone was playing on and the ref didn't care, so he jumped up and sprinted ten yards.

Summary of modern footballers right there, pathetic.

The one sturridge pushed in the chest? And he went down holding his face trying to get sent off. And Suarez gets the bad press from the game

Yup.

Realised no one gave a toss and got up and played on like normal as nothing as wrong with him. All cheating ********.

Friends on Facebook who support Liverpool defending him to the hills, even though that gif shows there was no contact apparently 'he was clearly kneed in the thigh'.

Morons.

Really special of Rodgers to make the change Danny :o

I could have told you 2 years ago that Gerrard and Henderson couldn't play alongside each other and I wouldn't charge £40k per week to make that decision.

Watching the replays on MOTD? His knee clearly did trip Suarez, you moron ;) :p
